I wish i had a shadow ring

But i think its been solved now ;x
Im going with Glitch, i would have seen the "Uses Final sting, but misses Karbuncle." in the chat log.
I got lucky it seems ;3
But Missing is an option too.

Final Sting can miss. It's not 100%.

Yeah, it's definitely not 100%. I remember those black days in the Temple, killing Wespes for my Larvae, with the occasional one-shottings and homepointings. My guess is that you've got about a 5% chance to not get hit by it.
