Item icons

While I realize there are more pressing things to do than play with little 32x32 pictures...

I exported all the icons from POLUtils and was wondering if BGWiki was going to be anal about replacing icons that are "fine" on their own like that other wiki always was. That is, the icons I exported are a bit "cleaner" looking than the ones snipped out of the game, due to not having the rough edges of the item box to deal with. While the regular icons are fine, the ones I'd be replacing them with are (in my opinion) just a hair better.

If I'm not making what I mean clear, I'm talking about the difference between this http://wiki.bluegartr.com/images/8/8...Staff_icon.png vs. the attached.

And yes, as I come to each item to upload the icon, I do fix up the item pages. :3 I started on furnitures a few days ago, but got busy with other things before getting too far: http://wiki.bluegartr.com/Oak_Table

That sounds really cool, but it would be very tedious, I'll help share the load if you want. I really like this idea plus it would make my Template:Equipment Set look a LOT cleaner. I could have your images overlay the slot icon so it can really look like it does as it's in your inventory.

Do you clean the backgrounds off with eraser tool on a transparent layer on Photoshop or something? I'm rusty at this and I'm not sure if that quality is acceptable. Let me know and I'll revert the change.

Edit: It didn't show up after I updated and resized it. Never mind, reverted the change.

No, they are the raw icons from the game files. They can be exported if you have Pebbles. In fact, that is how I got the icons for the version update changes.

Tagging/Semantics can be removed when everything is done.

Except, if obtained info or images are missing, you can add {{Item Info}} and {{Item Image}} respectively, and the tagging/semantics can be removed if these two tags are added.

I'm just wondering if I'm doing that right, or should I leave the line saying |description image=[[soandso_description.png]] to stop from deleteing the image to save having to upload it again?

The image name is already in the template, so the |description image=[[image name]] line is not needed. That item can be removed, and once it's gone, the template will have the correct item name on the right, ready to be clicked for the image to be uploaded.

You don't have to name the images in your computer, they can be named anything. For example, if you have the description image for an Apple, you can have the file name being Apple2, and when you click the link to upload, it will automatically rename it to what it needs to be.

Like Julian said, use {{Item Info}} when information like crafting or NM drop is needed, and {{Item Image}} when it needs images, then delete the Tagging and Semantics categories. (That way we know that the ones in those categories need to be overhauled.)

Also, remove the image description image line. Those don't need to be used anymore, images are automatically generated in the template.

Ok, last couple of questions and I should be good:

1) Is there a specific spot I need to plop in the {{Item Image}} tag in order to flag it for needing a description image?

and

2) Pretty much the same question regarding the [[Category:Item Type]] i.e. [[Category:Sword]] for the ESword, can I just plop both fo those tags at the bottom?

Anywhere is fine, the top or the bottom are both ok places, the bottom is better though imo. (So that they're easier to remove (the item image/item info) when that image/info is uploaded)

Ok, I lied, I have another question: Is it ok if we truncate the TP/Hit values on weapons to 1 decimal place, since that's what actually happens to them ingame?

One of the things with the wiki is that we like to keep things as close to the original dat files as possible, so please do not truncate.

I just exported all the icons and renamed them all, there wouldn't be a way for me to mass upload them to the wiki would there? >_>
