Need info/advice from Maat's Cap people

I've been considering a couple of in-game goals for myself lately and one of them was Maat's Cap. The problem is that I can't decide if I should do it or not. Every time I think about the extreme amount of time it would take to level all of those jobs, I get a really bad case of cold feet. I've been playing since April 2004 and I now have 4 jobs at 75 (SMN, BLU, DRG and BST), and my next highest job is my 50 WHM. This includes a lot of breaks to do other stuff in the game.

My reason for posting this I guess is to get some insight into what I'd be getting myself into if I were to go for Maat's Cap from people who have already done it. I'd have to say that my biggest concern is time. I know that it's going to take a long, long time to complete this quest. I imagine you'd have to exp around the clock and miss a lot of sleep and meals in order to get all those jobs leveled quickly enough. How long did it take? How often did you guys level and for how long? Is there any way I could do this without missing my precious 8 hours of sleep and still have time to do other, non-ffxi things?

Lastly, I'd love any kind tips or advice people could give me to make it as easy and stress free as possible. Also, besides the 4 that I already have at 75, I don't intend to level any other jobs all the way to cap, just the 66+ minimum required to fight Maat.

Right now I'm really considering going for my other goal, leveling Fishing to 100 and getting a Lu Shang's and Ebisu. Sorry for sounding so noobish.

Get a 75 bard account, and plvl every melee/dnc => 75. Takes about 2 weeks 5-6 hours a day per job i'd say. Bard will go fast, and you got some of the harder jobs out of the way (smn/bst).

4 75s and a 50 is a long way off to maats cap, I don't want to discourage you, but try short term goals, like all SJs to 37 (or 40 is nice for capped stuff and gear simplicity)

then take it from there, you get all the annoying xp zones out of the way for good

after that it's knowing the xp sweetspots and gob pet places/campaign for those times in between parties

all this of course is assuming u don't have a 75 brd/rdm/whm PL which is a godsend for most jobs, especially if you have decent gar and end up tanking no matter the dd job ur on

in all honesty tho, i reccommend capping the bulk of ur melee merits asap, 5/5 str 4/4 crits and some weapon skilll merits that affect a few jobs so you enjoy lvling up much more, otherwise it can be a bit of a grind if ur not the shining star in every pt, it's kinda nice to get a bunch of oh shiiii- in every pt

lvl jobs with similar gear too, i don't reccommend lvling thf pld and blm at once, for example, as they share nearly nothing in common

lastly, keep a bazaar comment with ur job levels, i update mine each time i ding, helps me stay focussed and motivated

Two of the three people I know w/ a Maat's cap did the Brd following them around thing. The other just ground out jobs for about a year because he's a leveling fiend.

Unfortunately, I don't really know a 75 mage or a 75 BRD who would follow me around long enough to get through all those jobs.

I did play around with a few other jobs, I leveled WAR and NIN to 37 for SJs and BLM is close at 35. The rest are somewhere in the teens. The only ones I didn't touch yet are PLD, DRK and RNG.

As for gear, I have a fairly good variety of melee gear (ACC, ATK, STR) and mage gear (MP, INT, MND) that I bought while leveling my BLU. I also have all of the level 51 staves for the -perp on my SMN's avatars. I tend to keep most of the lower level stored on mules in case I need 'em for capped stuff.

So far, a Maat's Cap isn't looking very likely for me. I don't have a personal PLer and this sounds too much like a long, long grind and I'm not sure I want to be doing nothing but leveling for the next couple years.

You got some of the hardest jobs out of the way already imho. BST, SMN, DRG (i know, undeserved pariah status, mostly). Getting jobs to 37 or 40 seems like a good goal to go for. Keep in mind that you can ditch jobs with bad inviterate/jobs you don't like playing at 66, or whenever you can beat maat. 66-73 is the worst levelling stretch imho. Motherfuck Caedarva Mire.

A dualbox account really helps for low levels (so you can avoid dunes qufim and jungles), after that it's good too, but it really shines to get a job to SJ level hassle-free. Maybe try talking to your friends, see if they want to level something. Try to make a nice 2-3 person static (more is usually just slowdown) and get some jobs levelled. Coolest is if the friends have cap as goal too, then you can rotate jobs so you have a healer, tank or buffer for at least the first couple of jobs.
