mmm I dunno about this "98% Backwards compatibility" of the 80 gig bundle.

It was tested and stated a long time ago when it came out that it was around 72% compatible with all PS2 games, and it included all of the popular ones. The original 60 gig and 20 gig were the ones around 98% backwards compatible because they had the emotion chip, while the 80 runs on emulation.

The 80 gig PS3 for 499 is no better a deal than the motorstorm one currently...

Price-wise a 40gig around June and MGS4 seperately is cheaper... unless you're totally itching for a backwards compatible one. The 40 gigs will have Dualshock 3 as well by then. They're not gonna have the 80 gig with rumble and have the 40 gig with sixaxis only..

Any PS3 with more than 40 gigs of storage seems like a waste to me, as you'll all be inevitably upgrading the harddrives to 160 or 200 gigs anyway as they're covered under warranty.
