So, today I got out of school and decided to go to Walgreens right across the street. So I cross the first street through the sidewalk just fine, but there is a mini street right there that you have to cross to get to walgreens. So I cross, not through the sidewalk, and I see 3 cops on the other side of the street behind the parked cars, all walking towards me. The douche bag gave me a pedestrian ticket for not crossing the street through the sidewalk, I was like... wtf......... 48.50

It's fucking bullshit that cops go to a high school and wait out there just to get the kids who get out, who obviously dont have enough money as it is. But Im guessing our government has fallen that low, where cops just sit outside a high school looking for people walking to give them tickets...

Yea, sucks, but you were breaking the law. It's not an issue of "falling that low" per se, but an issue of fundraising. You break the law, you get to help fund another yard of pavement on a new highway. Cops used to make random passes through my high school parking lot and ticket EVERYONE who didn't have a permit, as if we were all tourists parking at the high school.

It was seriously like the smallest street ever. I crossed the avenue like i was supposed to, but that one lane street just felt unfair...

So I'm driving home and the last 5 miles is via surface streets once I'm off the highway. Anyway I get caught in the mass of cars entering/exiting this school and traffic is slowed to a crawl. Finally there's a break and I turn off the main road to pick another way home when all of a sudden this fucking kid races out of nowhere just to get to the liquor store. I mean this fucking kid could have used the goddamn sidewalk and maybe receive some of the benefit of the draconian driving rules around a campus when students are present but he can't be arsed to obey some simple traffic laws.

To be honest that ticket is to protect you. As much as I'd like to say I'm constantly looking out for pedestrians, I almost never pay attention to anything but designated crosswalks and the likes. It's seriously just not possible to keep track of it all, and I'm not going to see that kid who runs out into the middle of the street before it's too late.
