    Re: UFC® 82: PRIDE OF A CHAMPION

Seeing as how there is not actual UFC/mma thread I guess I'll just post this here. Apparently the earlier talk about Fedor and M-1 having problems is pretty serious and he is reportedly going to leave M-1 sometime next week. Whether he goes to Dream or UFC is unknown but its pretty good news I think.

most of pride's contracts are overstated. most of the russians had oral agreements only...so not really binding. i don't know for sure what fedor's status is/was on that note though, just read an intervew with crocop talking about the business in regards to that. i think his exact quote was "most of us" have oral agreements. i'd love to see him in the UFC, and i think dana's the kind of guy who would now get him no matter the cost JUST to piss off randy...but i think he'll end up in dream.

randy has said hed fight fedor wherever, even in the UFC. i think dana would maybe wanna make a more flexible contract with fedor to get him in the UFC, especially after the shit thats happened since he fucked it up the first time, with randy leaving and all. although i still doubt theyd work things out.

If Fedor does sign with the UFC, what happens to Nog. Since he's the interim champ it would mean that him and Randy fight for the title, but with Fedor thrown in I'm not sure how they would go about making that the big fight and make it 5 rounds like it should be.

It would have to be a lot more flexible. Those conditions seem ridiculous.

yeah, thats why i dont think itd happen. im not sure dana would even want it to happen now though. he has such a big ego that i cant imagine him going back and trying to re-negotiate with fedor after talking so much shit on him and his management. and also saying shit like fedor is a farce and isnt even top 5. he knows how stupid hed look if fedor destroyed couture in the UFC.. and i doubt he'd have any problems against nog again

"Of course, the UFC would have to be willing to re-open negotiations with Emelianenko's management. Previous talks dragged on for almost a year before falling apart amid plenty of name-calling and finger-pointing from both sides. UFC president Dana White was vocal in pinning the blame on Emelianenko's team, saying he never once spoke or met with the fighter. Would the head of the UFC be willing to enter the Fedor fray again? "Absolutely, 100 percent, in a heartbeat," says White. "People think he's the best—I don't, not even close.
But if it's somehow possible, I would make it happen."

Dana talks shit about any fighter he can't sign so it seems like the UFC has every top fighter. He talked shit about Wand before he was signed and then completely changed his tune afterwards.

Also, if I remember right Fedor (or is management at least) had some pretty extreme demands before they would sign too. Having events in Russia and signing Red Devil fighters (ppl Fedor trains with) to contracts were among some of them.

he had quite a few demands as well as the UFC having way too many demands as well. he wanted basically his whole team (red devil) to be signed to contracts...his brother to be signed to a fairly large contract...to have events in russia...to be able to still do sambo, and that be priority over scheduling...some weird stuff.

I doubt those demands were from Fedor nor were they required. They were probably his managers trying to get in on the action. I mean he signed with Pride/m-1 and neither of those had all of those requirements filled.

yeah thats true about wand. if fedor came and beat randy, dana would probably just turn around saying hes the greatest fighter in the world.

and is wanting to fight with red devil a really big deal? before, fedor said he wanted to fight with his teammates like how pride allowed him. so im assuming it would be the same guys pride had: aleks, zentsov, suloev and magomedov (i dont think any more red devil guys ever fought in pride), and magomedov isnt in red devil anymore. i dont think signing aleks and zentsov would be too horrible.

im assuming its pretty much because of the exclusivity that dana wants, and fedor wont give up sambo

Fedor had a non exclusive non transferable contract with pride was the word. As for demands, UFC seemed just as bad if not worse, things such as him not being able to leave the UFC if undefeated, also I think it was an 8 fight contract for quite awhile too.

Dana's retarded for saying that stupid shit about Fedor not being very good. He's gotta know that anyone with a brain in their head recognizes that Fedor is either one of the best, if not the best, heavyweight MMA fighter out there. With that in mind I don't understand how he can make lame comments like that and not feel foolish doing it.

All I know is, I am getting impatient and would like to see Fedor fight ASAP. It's been too long since I've seen him do anything. I can't imagine he's happy with all this political bullshit preventing him from fighting.

But how many average MMA fans know about Fedor? When they hear The Big Man Dana talk about fighters, they'll take his word as the truth because they don't know better. This way those fans think the UFC has all the best fighters in the world, so they keep coming back.

Good question. I'd hope that MMA fans are somewhat intelligent. Typically the people I've known who enjoy MMA are pretty smart, so maybe I've only been exposed to a small slice of the fan base. Just about all of them know who Fedor is.

wasnt there talk of fedor vs monson very soon? i know that was supposed to happen last year in bodog but im pretty sure i read recently that fedor is fighting monson in the summer time.

either way im not getting my hopes up for fedor joining the UFC.. hes prolly gonna get picked up by mark cuban and fight kimbo on HDNET.

fedor v. monson was "talked about" but never came to fruition. few people also remember the man just fought 2 months ago...not like he's been out too long. as for the talk about him not having those same demands in pride/m-1...ummm, yes he did. pride was exclusive however and he couldn't do sambo, but he still had his red devil team signed and his brother signed on a big (for his level) contract. his brother is garbage and a common criminal...but he still puts on exciting stand up fights when put against the right guys, so i don't have a problem bringing him in, the other guys are very much just wrestlers and sambo guys and not very exciting. it's expected that dana will play down fedor because he doesn't have him. what's he supposed to do? say fedor is the greatest thing in the world and have a ton of his fans tune into the next m-1 PPV to see him? it's a freaking business. 1 of the 48 laws of power "disdain that which you cannot have". learn it/love it.

It's dana man.. remember this clown when Pride and UFC were in the thick of it aske "who's Fedor, I'd like to see what he's about" (to paraphrase)?

To me there are MMA fans and then there are UFC fans. 8)

I would say the avg MMA fans know who Fedor is. The avg UFC fan however, doesn't.
