    HDCP lol

So, in order to watch HD DVDs on my PC I needed an HDCP compliant monitor, which turns out I didn't have. So I picked up a new one, hooked it all up with DVI like my old monitor and it STILL wouldn't do HDCP(even though the box said "HDCP via DVI"). I had to hook it up analog to get it to work.

How does that make any sense? I'm not very familiar with HDCP other than I know my consoles use it when I hook them up HDMI.

I'd like to have my monitor hooked up digital since it's a bunch sharper but I'm out of luck since I can't seem to get it to work with HDCP. Yes, I'm running the newest drivers for my monitor and video card(Samsung 225BW and MSI Nvidia 6600GT).

Which it is since I've been watching HD DVDs on the new monitor, I just think it's fucked up I can't do HDCP with DVI and that I have to use analog.

Probably you are allowed to see protected content over an analog signal (as it's quite difficult to capture with good quality), but not over a digital one unless it's encrypted. So most probably it's the lack of HDCP support from your card.

If my video card didn't support HDCP how can I view it on one monitor and not the other though? It just sounds like bullshit to me. Not saying you guys are wrong, I just think it's stupid. lol

HDCP is DVI / HDMI only and as far as I know the 6600GT does not include this feature

First (specific) mention of HDCP I see is on the 8 series, but I didn't look too closely at the 7 series
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_84 ... specs.html

I'm fairly sure the latest ATI series cards do HDCP as well

Perhaps you can view it on one monitor if it is not 1080 capable and/or is analog

HDCP only applies to digital and not analog? So, if I hooked up my old monitor with a VGA cable I should be able to watch HDCP content on both?

I was under the impression you HAD to have HDCP compliant stuff(which apparently my video card is not) to watch HDCP content but if you can circumvent it by using an analog signal that rules.
