Newbie from the UK seeks company.

Evenin' all.

Short version: Looking for a UK timezone, newbie friendly, rp if posible LS + server.

Long Version:

My first adventure in FFXI ended shortly after it begun, as I was also playing DAOC at the time and had been since it's launch. Having a great bunch of folks to adventure with there soon made me drop my brief journey into FFXI and return.
My DAOC life has come to a perminant end now and being a huge FF fan, I would love to pick up FFXI again.

I am a total newbie FFXI adventurer sporting only a single job and playing UK evening/weekend times. I have been kicking around on the Siren server, toying with my class choice and learning as many of the ropes as posible. I am however, seeking advice as to:

- Which server, if any in particular, has a known EU prime time comunity?
- any well known EU RP shells?
- any new players looking for company?

Any other important tips would be appreciated. ^_^

I know fenrir has a decent sized EU social LS which also branched out into some endgame stuff like salvage, dyna and sky.

Unfortunately the majority of the FFXI playerbase look down upon RPing. In my years of playing, I've only heard of two LSs across all the servers that were for RPers. Your best bet is to (somehow, by chance, by luck) find other RPers on your server and hook up with them.

Be really careful about RPing in /say or /emote, you can get some very rude reactions from non-RPers. It's best to keep it to /tell or /party if possible. People can get really nasty to RPers (to many, it's a sport to be rude to people who try to stay IC).

http://www.qcdn.org has a rp forum, i went there once to see what the fuss was about and, no offense, it was scarier than i thought so i'll leave the linkshell investigating up to you

Thank you for the informative, if but a tad dissheartening, replies folks. I guess the best course of action would be to "suck it and see!" and hope to find a decent comunity to become a part of.
