    Re: Professional Starcraft

I spent about an hour watching a lot of those videos, and I don't play Starcraft/haven't in ages.

the guy doing the English dubs is damn annoying, but to his credit he talks extremely fast. There's a scene etched into my memory where it shows a Korean girl, who shyly puts her head down when the camera looks at her, and he discusses how shy Korean girls turn him on...what the fuck I don't care.

Even though I don't understand some of the intricacies (dear God I saw some of the 1stperson cameraing...hello carpel tunnel!), I still knew enough of sc to appreciate what the hell was going on. That boxer/nal-ra match was good, but I liked the Protoss-Protoss match between Bisu and Stork (I wanted to see some Finals, not like 8th round crap). That was holy-shit awesome.

someone find me some professional madden tournaments ;(

If rushing with 2 barracks is the craziest strategy the best "heavyweight" pros can come up with, I think I have the potential to become the best ever.

That shit is retarded, who the fuck doesn't expect a rush of some kind from a Korean opponent?

You don't know anything about high level Starcraft play.

Pretty much. Can you name a Blizzard game *ever* that hasn't lived up to the hype? Blizzard redefines online gaming with each new game it releases, I'm not worried in the least.

That announcer is one of the better ones for English, he usually knows what he's talking about. Only downside is his voice probably isn't the best "Announcer" voice. If you guys remember the Blizzcon matches the english announcers for that match weren't that great (and the matches back then were awesome as well).

I stayed in S.Korea for 3 weeks with a friend who lives in Seoul. Almost every time i turned on the TV, i could find a league event being displayed.

It was quite insane to watch them play...

Yes, if it lived up to the lack of hype.

Besides, those are console games. I just sorta ignore console games by Blizzard... or any company that's shown their strength to be elsewhere. They didn't even manage to make Starcraft: Ghost.

    Re: Professional Starcraft

my friends and i (and my entire "group") have decided to skip school when sc2 comes out to go buy it, and we also decided to fuck shit up if it ends up sucking lol
i seriously predict a havoc in korea when sc2 comes out, whether it ends up being a good game or not living up to expectations. there will always be anti's, and the whole deal with proleague is pretty important too. i remember the ongamenet announcers having a big debate about sc1-sc2, it was a good listen if you guys can maybe find it somewhere.

also if you guys think this shit is good, search up some more legendary fights. there was one with nada and boxer, entire map taken with nukes, battles and wraiths...fucking epic. some pro vs pro were like all the minerals were eaten, both players had half the map FILLED with photons, was so awesome lol
another one is bak ji sung (madang toss? good HT user) vs the devil toss, you'll have to search it up. dark archons and carriers, insane turnabout lol

In Korea, I imagine all the schools will be empty on the day SC2 comes out. But nobody will notice, because the teachers will have skipped class, too.

They'll probably just make it a national holiday, and all the schools and workplaces will take the day off.

    Re: Professional Starcraft

If anyone wants to see some of the cooler plays these guys have done, this site has been doing a sort of top10-15 of the best plays of each year since 2002:
    http://www.sclegacy.com//content/pimpest-plays-3/

There were some videos made based on these lists but I don't know where. Each submission has a link to replay/video though in that archive I think. Some of them are insanely impressive, especially considering the stress and pressure of the matches they were in when they did them. Most are some micromanagement tricks that most players wouldn't have time to do while still building up, but some are strategical moves as well.

Blackthorne is badass, wtf are you talking about. All these games are way before blizz was established as a serious company though. Wasn't really until Warcraft II came out in late 95 that Blizzard really became a major player (more then likely due it being one of the first games with full featured online play).

Since that point you really can't name a single Blizzard game that's fallen flat (Diablo 1 & 2, Warcraft III, Starcraft, WoW)

That's what I mean, though. Because they weren't famous at the time, their early games didn't get hyped, and therefore couldn't have lived up to the hype. It's not really relevant to speculation about Starcraft 2 or anything, but it's fun to be able to remember Lost Vikings and stuff anyway.

Whats his name, or his ID?

For anyone who finds this even a little interesting, check out http://www.teamliquid.net for the absolute best in english coverage of Korean starcraft. Lately the articles have been very high quality, with some nice history for those who are just getting involved for the first time. There are also plenty of guides on how to watch live streams, and discussions about everything related to pro-starcraft. Their forums are great because they are heavily moderated, and you dont get a bunch of filler crap from moron posters (normally anyway.. and a lot less than here).

Right now, like everyone else, I'm a fan of Jaedong (he fucking owned Mind out of the MSL! Damn I hate Mind). Much and Flash are looking pretty sick lately also. I'll always be a hardcore sAviOr fan but that has been depressing lately.

As for great games, of recent I would recommend game 4 of MSL Jaedong(Z) vs Mind(T) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMLJ97gmIL8).

More sick play by Jaedong. Jaedong(Z) vs Flash(T) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K91Ylnxb2K0).

Also this game is a little one sided but its too awesome anyway. Luxury(Z) vs Frozean(T) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-MXrByxM5E).

But yeah, I'm a zerg fan and ZvT is my favorite match-up lol.

You don't know anything about high level Starcraft play.
    Fact.
This may have something to do with my actual 1v1 experience on US-West. I haven't played a single game where my opponent didn't try to rush me.
Oh how awesome it would be to play a game that lasted long enough for one side to get to an air unit tech level.

    Re: Professional Starcraft

That in general is a problem with ladder play. SC b.net play is basically plagued with maphackers and rushers. Your best bet is to just play with friends until SC2 revitalizes the SC scene. Americans make terrible starcraft opponents.
