FPS Issues, need some crackpot theories~
So a few days ago, I got myself a pretty old and quite cheap video card to bump up from onboard garbage I have. Unfortunately, while alot of games improved from it; few games actually become unplayable including FFXI. I've tried a bunch of random things like updating drivers/updating older drivers, setting everything to low, nothing seems to work unless I missed some places to look.
The only keynote I've seen is the factor is the number of character models are being shown.
-If I were to stare at an unoccupied wall, be on the start menu: Perfect 28-30fps.
-Even if one character model is shown, fps will drop dramatically.
-Proc'd under 1fps during Einherjar and shocked that my computer didn't blow up from it.
Anyway my basic specs are.
OS: XP Media Center SP2
Proccessor: Pentium 4 3.00GHz
Memory: 1.24GB RAM
Onboard Videocard: Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family(currently Uninstalled and Disabled)
Current Videocard: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
I have tested a good handful of games and so far only FFXI and Dynasty Warriors Online were the only games that downshifted from the "upgrade", both made from Japan(COINCIDENCE!? D
. Lets not the final solution be a new card/comp cause I have no plans to spend money atm <<b.
