I think in the later ages it would be possible for men and women to be friends. But at younger ages, the hormones are just too overwhelming.

I did ask her about that. She did say "It just never came up." She doesn't want to bring it up and wants to let the boy in question deal with it and tell his mom.

She doesn't wanna be the bearer of bad news, or something. She said she would tell her, though. I think it's fucked up too, she doesn't really understand what the big deal is.

She feels like I'm telling her what to do, and she wants to do it on her own. I keep telling her she can do whatever she wants, but her decisions have consequences, and one of them can be me leaving. She doesn't like that, but she's offered absolutely no alternative solution.

I don't like the part where she avoids mentioning you because "it just never came up". She should have at least casually mentioned that she's been seeing someone and that she still wants to be friends with the Ex if that's really her intention.

Meeting up with the Ex casually on a Sunday afternoon for coffee or whatever is one thing. Meeting up together out of the country is a whole different story. You don't spend that kind of money to travel just to hang out with an Ex when you could just wait til they got back.

I don't know what her true intentions are with him, but I can guarentee you he's just trying to get in her pants. And not all guys are like this when it comes to female friends. Most probably, but not all.

Dude seriously, run. Everything she's saying is the bs I fed my ex (this is important lol, 'EX') in reference to an old flame. Maybe you're in the clear because he's somewhat out of the picture, maybe far away or something, but believe me if it could have worked out it would have for me and my old flame.

Obviously, limit any opportunities for them to rekindle anything but I'd save yourself a couple years of wondering and get out while you can.

While I do somewhat agree it can be different at times. I am still best friend with this girl that was my childhood friend.. she's like a sister to me. It would feel really wrong to mess around.

Most of the times though if a guy is around a girl being "best friends", yeah just like the quoted above.
