Pretty much sums it up for me. I just hate fucking idiots, no matter what race. I cannot tolerate them longer than a few minutes.Originally Posted by SathFenrir

What do you guys define as idiots? From my observations, you guys use the word idiot quite liberally here.
Do you even need to ask ME kuya? lolOriginally Posted by Kuya
Of course it's not, but the whole point of that was an example of a similar situation. The only reason Waffles was insulting and offensive to me is because I felt offended back then by it, it completely lost it's value when I chose not to be offended anymore.Originally Posted by Maxxthepenguin
Your not finding waffles offensive at all proves the point that the word is only what the listener makes it out to be.
The problem of course is that plenty of black people don't want to self-identify as a nigger. Self-identifying as a breakfast food (or Archie, in my case) is just a random teasing instance turned on it's head.
Nigger can't be a nickname. It just can't.
Anyway, usage of the word nigger is IMO generally just a distraction from real issues of racism. I'm of the opinion that the "language of racism" is both the most visible and least "dangerous" aspect of it.

Misanthropy, which those "funny and very original" people are referring to, isn't racism. Also "AHAHAHHAHAHA AN OVERTLY SARCASTIC STATEMENT FOLLOWED BY AN IMPLIED CHANGE OF INTONATION AND REPUDIATION OF THAT STATEMENT SO FUNNY ROFL AND VERY ORIGINAL TOO ROFL ROFL. Not really. No better way to prove your point than with unabashed hypocrisy.
On topic: Voted no. The contemporary definition of racism has been warped so far beyond recognition by accommodationist ideologies of political correctness that I'm unwilling to label myself as one.
I'm not saying turn nigger into a nickname. I'm just showing an example I used and a resolution I came up with for it on my own - how a word was once offensive to me and then one day no longer was offensive because of choice.
The fact it turned into a nickname for me wasn't intentional at all, it had nothing to do with me making the word not mean anything to me anymore. I stopped taking offense and then people used it as a completely different term.
The word to me and my classmates went from a previously derogatory term, into nothing.
Right, and I'm saying that's wonderful and all, but if your tormentors had instead nicknamed you "faggot", you wouldn't have done the same thing. Therein lies the rub.Originally Posted by Lordwafik

What you're saying isn't relevant to what I'm saying - but I can understand I might be a bit confusing/misleading at times. And what's wrong with having words be bad and people just not using them? I really don't see why we need the word to be usable.
I'm not arguing bad words usage, I'm saying words wont mean anything if people lessen their value. I'm not preaching people to stop, I am saying that if X happens Y will happen, simple as that. Will people stop taking offense to nigger anytime soon? Of course not, people love feeling like victims whether or not they admit it, and so long as we remain feeling victimized, some things will never change.
So, what, people who use the word according to the actual meaning would not think such bad things anymore? What good would this desensitizing of the word actually do?

The quest to remove all violence, in all forms in schools (where so much of this namecalling exists), helps the festering emodom that leads to school shootings. Someone opens their big mouth, shut it for them. Trying to neutralize all negative words just ruins the language.
Hey, let's not start a violence debate itt >:/
For the love of asian hookers. People are being really dense. Here, i'll illustrate:
Person 1: "I've found a way to partially cure some side-effects (symptoms) of disease X."
Person 2: "But you didn't cure disease X."
Person 1: "I know, that's not what i said."
Person 2: "SHITCOCK"
Exclude the 4th part and there you go.
Personally, I prefer that racists use the language of racism. That way you know who they are.
Attacking language says "I care what I hear" more than "I care what you think".
