Nowhere did I say colorism is the root of all problems like you're trying to make it sound. You're basically taking what I say and pushing it to the limit and of course making it sound silly. Colorism is an aspect of society, no it does not work in every situation but it does exist. You can't just say "OMFG if it was real then there would be no relationships". Well, that's why it's slippery and hard for me to understand precisely... No, I definitely would not have been uncomfortable if they were dressed up in nice suits, and presenting a professional image. At the same time, though, I do believe that I'm more uncomfortable that the people I come across are hispanic ghetto men. If they were white, I think I'd take it more as an absurdity or at worst a nuisance. I don't know how to explain it, since I'm not exactly thinking any of these things consciously as I'm rushing through a half-hour walk in fifteen minutes, but it's almost as if racial otherness empowers the ghetto stereotype to be something threatening instead of something to scorn.

I am Black, but like many of you I despise ignorance. I have cousins and Uncles that I dislike to this day simply because they are the epitome of the word "niggas". Bragging about who did more jail time, who gets more pussy (i.e more kids), who used to steal the most cars, you know that I mean? Embracing ignorance is the very fucking definition of a "Nigger". My mom has ALWAYS told me and my brothers that she is "raising decent, hardworking, productive black men" and if we made the choice to be "niggas then we could "get the fuck out of her house"; Verbatim quote btw. Now this was throughout our entire lives, 70's-90's. And she stuck to her guns the entire time, she wanted us to KNOW and be proud of my race and heritage but even she admitted that in these times, thats much easier said than done.

My great grandmother was a "servant" for an all white family, that happened to pay her for services rendered from time to time, hence the term "servant" but we all know the truth. She would always tell my grandma and mother when they were VERY small about what the Patty's would do and say to her (Anyone in the South knows Patty is a slang term for poor white trash or racist whites in general), but despite that my Mother, grandmother or none of my family EVER once taught us to hate, dislike or have disdain for anyone.

Long story short, I have a general dislike for stupidity of any type. I don't give a shit about race in any form or fashion. Live and let live is a hard concept to grasp in todays society unfortunately. I personally have worked for everything that I have in my life, Graduated college twice, Certifications, tests etc.. and not once played the "race card" or felt I was entitled to anything that I did not earn. Unfortunately in this day and time, it seems everyone wants something for absolutely nothing and thats fucking sad. Not saying that I am above anyone that needs the assistance of college funds set aside for Black students, specialized grants etc... I'm just saying.

Dude, just stop. There are plenty of things that a large portion of the black community chooses to take responsibility for, and personally there's a lot of shit I take the bag for or am self-conscious about during the given day, but even with a lighter medium black complexion and my work attire I still get funny looks and have the ever wonderful luxury of getting to stretch out on train seats because people are damn near afraid to sit next to me (after the 8th or 9th stop I generally just say fuck it and stretch my legs out, taking them down and sitting normally at every stop just to give a person a chance for a seat). When you're standing in a bunch of street lights calling out to someone who dropped their purse in a movie theater only wanting to return it to them, offering to leave it on the car next to you or on the street and to back away because you know the person is too scared shitless to even stand next to you and all they do is scream and look like they're about to run away, you come back and tell me how your canned response is even relevant. "Take responsibility" is a fucking non-sequitur dude, this is largely about a factor we can not control.
