Who will be getting it? Looks fun and it will probably motivate me more to stay fit due to being a game because I am a geek, I have got so lazy lately :/

depends on the price, looks like it could be fun.
Going to be quite pricey I think, £69.99 in UK
I'd only pick it up once an actual game comes out that makes practical use of it.
As much as I like minigame collections, it's hard to justify a peripheral for something I'd likely be bored of two weeks later.
I work out 4-5 times per week, so adding this in would be a change to my normal routine heh.
If it's got some good cardio programs I'd pick it up.
its $89.99 in the US...so i'm gonna have to pass
I looked at some pictures about this game and read some info on it. I'm somewhat skeptical and what results it can produce, but I will definetly be giving it a try in good hopes.
I didn't get to play it at GDC, the lineup was huge liek xbox. What days were you at GDC?Originally Posted by elphaba

I always think of this when I hear someone mention wiifit, but it actually seems kind of cool.
"Don't want to invest $3.19 on a hula-hoop? Why not just pick up a Wii for $300.00?"
lol
Seriously though, what kinda paradigm shift is Nintendo trying to pull here? This might actually start a revolution where people get off their lazy asses and stop stuffing their fat faces with greasy pizza, and instead lower their risk of diabetes and heart attacks. This is horrible. Population explosion and less money made by the medical industry. People, there are jobs at stake here as well as an entrenched image of Americans being pudgy fat-asses. Don't buy into this healthy crap. Twinkies are where it's at. Maintain those love handles and ignore thoughts of getting healthier.

Overall, given the pricetag, I wouldn't recommend buying it if you've already got a gym membership, but if you only go for a run once or twice a week like me I'd say it's a worthwhile investment to fool around with for a half hour to an hour a day
I'm thinking of getting it. I do have a gym membership, but it's rotting at the moment because I have no time for it, which is the main reason I haven't picked up Wiifit, worried that I won't use it after a while.
What are the excersizes like? I wouldn't mind doing it if it's like 30mins a day in my own convenience , however I'm the kind of person who likes to see results after a while.
Does the mat have scales in them to tell weight?
First time you start it, you enter your height & date of birth. The board senses pressure and can weigh you as well. It'll calculate your BMI and from there ask you to set a goal. My BMI was 23.3 so it suggested I strive for a BMI of 22. It gives you two weeks to achieve your goal. At any point you can change your goal and it'll give you another two weeks to achieve that goal.
From that point you can do the exercises in the four categories at will. It'll record how many times you perform each exercise/pose/game and for how long. The duration is accumulated into the "WiiFit Piggy Bank". The more time is accumulated into the bank, the more poses/exercises/games are unlocked. I just started doing everything in order which is 5 yoga poses, followed by 5 strength exercises & 4 aerobics exercises. After 45 minutes or so I had accumulated enough for two new poses/exercises/games in each category which I plan to start doing tomorrow as well.
Some of the yoga poses really had me feeling it in my thighs so they work. A friend of mine has had the WiiFit imported on a JP Wii for a few weeks now and he wears the a sauna suit while exercising:

He's pretty happy about it so far. If you need to lose alot of weight or build lots of muscle I'd say this isn't for you and you'd be better off investing in a gym membership. But if you just want to tone up or lose a few pounds by exercising for a half hour to an hour once or twice a day this is a really great way of doing so in the privacy of your home.
It took me 45 minutes to get through the entire regimen, but that's with watching the demos/videos for each exercise/pose so I'm going to assume it'll be only 30 minutes without watching the demos/videos. As you accumulate more points in your piggybank the workout is going to increase to about an hour if you choose to do everything in each category. If you know your strength & weaknesses you can omit things if you're short on time. Right now I plan on doing everything in each category once when I get up in the morning and once at night. I suppose I'll let you know if it works & I notice any results.
If you do buy it though, make sure you buy it along with a box of disinfecting wipes because ideally you should be doing the exercises barefoot and my soles kept picking up shit from my carpet and it's very visible on the white board, so just wipe it once a day to keep it clean.
How the hell does it calculate your BMI?
You enter your height & age and it has a scale built in, so...Originally Posted by Quixotic
