Need help with a budget laptop.

I'm looking into buying a budget laptop that can run FFXI at 28-30 FPS consistently. All I plan on using it for is school, browsing, and FFXI.

What would be the cheapest/minimum requirements for me to run FFXI at 28-30 FPS consistently? I'm not too concerned with future proofing this as I will most likely just be using it for browsing and school whenever I'm done with FFXI.

    Processor?
    Amount of RAM?
    GFX card?

Preferably a 17 inch monitor so I can have access to a number pad.

Edit: Links would be GREATLY appreciated.

well was looking at laptops recently. not really sure about how well they will run ffxi since VISTA seems to kill most of their abilities from what i have heard. But found this one at best buy. About the cheapest 17" i could find. Just some of the specs are kinda lacking.

Course last week best buy was having a special on it for $750. So you kinda missed out on that. But yeah the 5400rpm HArd Drive is what pushed me away. Then the wife and I decided to just wait to buy another.

do you plan to bring it around? if so, don't buy anything over 15" laptop.

you just any c2d cpu, with about 1-2gb ram, and some decent but not to be good graphic card will be fine.

I'm not gonna' bring it around everywhere (like school and such), just probably to a friend's house where we'll be stagnant for hours.

Are any of the Nvidia 7000 series good enough to run FFXI @ 28-30 consistently?

If you're still interested in a new laptop...

I selected the 17" model for you, I have the 15.4" model with the same resolution screen. I also have the same graphics cards (8600M GT), I have a 1.6GHz T5470 though, instead of the 2.0GHz C2D. I score 6541 in the FFXI benchmark on low, and 4538 on high.

    Specs:

    Vostro 1700 Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7250 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
Operating System Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition, SP2
LCD Panel 17.0 inch Wide Screen XGA+ LCD Display with TrueLife™
Memory 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 2 DIMM
    Video Card 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8600M GT
Hard Drive 250GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
Optical Drive 8X CD/DVD+RW Read and Burn CD and DVD
Wireless Cards Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Wi-Fi Internal Card

It should come out to $979. You can build the same thing in the 15.4" version (it's still fairly large) for about $800.
