Students, What do you do to get yourself to do homework?

In January, I had to ask Sono to ban me from BG (hence the title and avatar), hide my TV, hide my physics books and magazines, hide my PS2, drink a ton of coffee, and have a friend call and check up on me every 10 minutes just to do my homework. I was doing homework that was due in October, even though it was January and the semester had ended in December. Screw the last minutes, I wait three months AFTER the last minute to do my homework!

Yeah, lol, I have to hide my physics/math books when I need to do homework (unless it's physics or math homework) or else I'll read those books instead of doing my homework. In this case, the work was physics related, but didn't require a book.

I usually just do it on the day before or something. I used to get high and work myself into some sort of state where I had to do it. And Id get it done without realizing that I did anything the next day. Somehow that got me a 78% grade last semester.

I need to get out of my house if I'm going to be effective. I get my best studying done on campus or at coffee shops or bookstores. I got /SOME/ stuff done at home, but I end up convincing myself 30mins of CoD4 won't hurt. And then it's time for House. After that I really should email some people back.

The rest is pretty self explanatory. My advice: get out of your house.

I rarely did any homework. I actually got a B in a calculus class instead of an A because i lost 10% of my grade from doing 0 homework. Homework is unnecessary if you ask me, it should be optional for when you dont understand the information when learning it in class. I probably did about 20% of my total homework in HS and college and I still got a degree in Chemistry, so you dont really 'have' to do it. After your first few years in the industry noone really cares if you had a 4.0 instead of a 3.3.

Just finished the programming assignment that was due today. Started it at 3AM (it's 8AM atm).

The only times I ever not do things on the last moment is on big projects (every semester we have a project that starts on the first week and is due at the end of the semester, but it's kinda fun to program so I don't really mind working on it like every week, so it doesn't really feel like homework to me).

Calc homework can kiss my ass though . Last semester I did the first two or three Calc hw, then I found out it was only worth like 3% of the grade. So I said "fuck this" and never did Calc hw again. This semester they changed it to like 10% or 15% or something though :/

If I ever really, really need to get an assignment done and I just don't feel like getting off my ass long enough to do it (and it's due like the next day), I just go to school, bring my Ipod and work on the computers there. I don't know what it is, but there's something about just being there that makes me be less lazy than I am at home

You know what makes me like doing work at home? Enjoying what I'm doing, loving the subject. I mean, granted there are bound to be thing in every field that one doesn't like, but I like looking at the big picture, or looking down the road to the completed product. That spurs me on more often than not.

Exactly what I do. If I'm at home, the only place that's convenient enough for me to do my homework/assignments is my desk, which happens to have my computer on it. The computer provides much too big of a distraction to actually get anything done. I always head to my college's library (it's VERY quiet, and for some reason the clicks of the library keyboards are a relaxing sound to me), despite it being downtown (about a ~25 minute drive away) if I need to actually get something done.

That procrastination chart is pretty much perfect. I'm currently on the "check social networking/messaging" or whatever stage... just finished eating. The irony of it all? I should be at school right now.

OMG I laughed soooo hard at this because there has seriously been times where I was here at work, read some of sunb1inds posts, and immediately shut down BG and started doing something else.

Ya last semester in Aristidou's class the HW was a total extra 3% so I never did the HW for that class. This semester the HW and quizzes are 10% total of the overall grade so I have to do them now.

Going to campus helps me sometimes for sure and I get a lot of work done. CS 230's HW can bite me.

I forgot to mention, but sometimes I take books to the lavatory. I usually end up 15-30 min in there, but hell, it helps too <_<

It must be nice to know your grades don't fucking matter at all...If I knew I didn't pretty much have to get a 4.0, I'd never do any homework or study. Fucking pre-Med
