Yea. I'm not a NIN fan at all (and didn't really like this CD pack), but I think it's awesome that more people are doing this.Originally Posted by Lordwafik

Dunno about you guys, but I love track 28.

Also 9 is a really good interspective/writing track.
Track 31, Simply amazing. Defiantly going to use this next time I con someone into sleeping with me.Originally Posted by isladar

Haven't kept up with Nin since the silliness that was AWITHA TEETHA...
I mean, yeah, Only rocks you fucking socks off, eats them, fucks your eyes out, and then sets your house on fire... but AWITHA TEETHA was just so fucking silly...

Cool, found em on Youtube, my torrent program blew up so I never got a new one.
Reminds me of the Reptile remixes.
This is the first time I have ever paid for a music download, and it would figure that over 24 hours after I pay I still do not have my fucking music, so I just torrent'd it anyway. irony.
WITH TEETH hurt me. Like NIN covers MCR. It felt like a cheap bait-and-switch.
I've gone through 3 1-36 play-throughs now and have moved it onto the ipod for the "oh, this sounds different out of context!" listen. I have to say that the difference between vocal tracks and instrumentals is immensely profound. You can do so much more with sound building, and really hear how much of a genius the man is in a studio.
I know its kind of human nature to focus on what's most familiar (i.e., the sound of a human voice), but really.. there's so much more complexity in the language when its just the music. Not to get all JP, but I actually get pissed sometimes when I've recorded vocals over what I write, because so much of what's been composed is lost.
Jesus christ, get a fucking lj version: Sounds like an amalgamation of everything from Fixed to the better parts of Year Zero, with a lot of Fragile thrown in. A++ would boner again.
With Teeth became more listenable to me when I saw them perform some of the songs off of it live.
same here norelco, no question.
after only two full playthroughs i'm really really happy with this release, not that it makes much of a difference to anyone. i especially love the longer tracks that are given a chance to build. the random instrumentals from still have always been some of my favorite tracks (along with a warm place being one of my favorite parts of tds). this is great.
After With Teeth I greatly shyed away from the band. I saw them at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia in 2005 and that was pretty amazing since they played practically no new music (they even played "Burn" and it was amazing). I didn't check out Year Zero but I am pretty intrigued by his decision to release instrumentals.
Year Zero was worth the download, though I'll be honest and say that album has been reduced to a three-track list for me. NIN live is NIN live, and you really haven't lived until you've seen them do Just Like You Imagined. The instrumentals have so far made me exceedingly happy -- they're very much a return to the sound and feeling of his more experimental earlier stuff.
Actually they played "The Line Begins To Blur" that night. It was an amazing set list at a tiny tiny venue. I don't remember what they played when I saw them in 2000.
<3's how so much of Ghosts makes me think of stuff like "ooh, this is like The Fragile..." and then the next one is like "ZOMG FIXED SOUNDZ!"
Fixed was my favourite album for a very long while. The Coil mixes are incredible.

Oh fuck you, brb gotta hear that now.
i was checking through my email and it looks like the drummer of the Dresden Dolls, Brian Viglione, worked on the album.
~ Hello Everyone ~
I am thrilled to announce the release of
the new Nine Inch Nails album, Ghosts I-IV.

I had the great pleasure this past December to work with Trent Reznor
and contribute some drum tracks to the new album.
Trent really opened the door for it to be a very creative experience
and allowed him to achieve what he needed musically,
while allowing me free reign to express myself and ideas on the drums.
Here's a little re-cap of that weekend:

Day 1:
Trent said, "I thought a fun art project for today would be to have you put some
things together
to play on and we could improve some stuff tonight. I don't really have room for a big
drum kit and all the mics here,
but, let your imagination go and we'll help you piece together what you need.
When you get something together, we'll record tonight.
Go nuts, see you in a few hours."
So I put this together from stuff around his house, Home Depot, and the grocery store.
It sounded cool as hell.

Day 2:
Trent said, "I'd love to record you behind a full drum kit, so today, I'll send you
and Alessandro to S.I.R. sound stage
and you can just set up and play whatever comes to your mind. Try to make it a mix of
styles and dynamics, loose to all-out playing.
Give us a few different BPMs for each beat you play with the click, and have fun."
So I did.
The room was HUGE and so was the sound which came from the drums.

When I got back home from the afternoon of recording,
Trent mentioned that he liked the sound of the junk kit recordings
from the day before and would I mind doing a little more.
So I went back into the room and put on the headphones and they said to me,
"We're just going to give you a tempo on the click, play whatever comes into your head
and improvise on it after you establish the basic groove."
I finished and hadn't even realized that I had just completed the drum
part to a song that they had already finished up.
The next morning they integrated my part into the song
and it was a crazy feeling hear myself integrated into
the music of a group who've I've been a fan of for years.
It was a great experience and hope you all enjoy the music.

19 & 22.
Get it.
Blast it.
Start the pit at the show.
Much Love,
Brian
I didn't enjoy the free/first album, I normally love instrumentals, but this felt like a bunch of people who were learning how to use Fruityloops. I'll pass on them, but props to them for using torrents as a format.
Back to listening to Queen![]()
