Re: Changes Scheduled for the March Version Update (03/04/2008)

    Hm.

    *Reads update details*

I believe http://youtube.com/watch?v=h8IrnfILXko<-- that is in order.

Seriously, why does anyone take this update so "OMG, WE'RE GONNA DIE" - like?

Brawl's in 5 days people, just consider this update something to do after Brawl gets old.... or after FFXI gets old, whichever comes first

Re: Changes Scheduled for the March Version Update (03/04/2008)

I like the ring thing.. has potential..

people should not be so critical about these notes.. yea, it tells us abit of whats to come, but the whole thing is somewhat of a mind-fuck on SEs part.

If they don't release anything, people will whine and wait for it to come

If they release fluff info, people will bitch that its not content

If they release real info, people will speculate and then overhype themselves to the extent that the actual update itself will become fail because it doesn't deliver to expections..

whichever SE chooses to do, however.. it doesn't actually affect the outcome of the patch that will be happening.

I'd say, let whatever comes come, because they will. Only the actual update notes are important anyway..

    edit: wrong word ;o

As sad as this sounds I actually agree. When I woke up and read these update notes at first I thought it was a big joke (especially after people had called it last week that Pankration would be the next update info). Then slowly it dawned on me that this wasn't in fact a joke. Then I laughed uncontrollably for about 30 seconds... then I went back to

Re: Changes Scheduled for the March Version Update (03/04/2008)

Mad about the update continuing to be lame? About to post and bitch about the part of the game which you consider to be most broken? Do this first. Take a deep breath, then say the following to yourself:

    1. All updates suck. No exceptions.
    2. Kings will never be fixed.
    3. Drop rates/Event mechanics in Salvage/Assault/Sky/Sea/Dynamis/Limbus/Einherjar/Insert 90% of game content here will either never be improved, or will only be improved after the player base has learned to adapt.
    4. There will be no new HNMs. If there are, the most you'll get out of them is a title.
    5. AV will never Never NEVER NEVER be changed. He's how SE gets their kicks when they get off work, just accept it.
    6. All new gear added in every update will at best be side-grades for mid levels. No new gear will ever be useful for endgame.

    And finally...

    7. Whatever I am most interested in WILL NOT be improved or changed in any way in this update.

Now say that to yourself whenever there's a new update notice. That way you'll actually be moderately pleased if something is announced that is actually relevant to you.

On the other hand, if you think that my 7 rules of update should not be true, play another game. At least 5 of the 7 rules have always been true, are true for this update, and will always be true. The sooner you accept this, the sooner you can either go back to playing the game, or get on with your life.

Sath, corporations don't change. They don't give the people what they want.

*Until* it affects their bottom line. The only thing to do, to promote change for a coporation, is to vote with your feet. Bitching and whining on a board they probably don't read, does absolutely nothing. This is the real world, kiddo. Love it or hate it. They aren't concerned with you, and your impotent rages. Well, you could, uh, start an online petition? I hear those have a high success rate....

In short, it's not that we're against you being upset at a company and wanting changes. It's just that you're not really doing anything about it. You're talking, but not walking.

You wanna have the changes you want? Do something productive about it, or STFU. Seriously. If you wanna whine, just because it's theraputic, however, then feel free. Let's just be upfront about, k?

And seriously, should SE have said nothing? Oh the whining about them being quiet that would have ensued. Instead, they release teaser information.

Before anyone brands me a fanboy, I quit once before, because I felt there wasn't much left for me to do. I went and played something else. Only came back because now there is more for me to do. And there's still a bunch of crap I wish were changed (HNMs and job adjustments among other things). But I've learned this is par for the course with any MMO. There's stuff I like, and stuff I don't.

So, in all seriousness, the phrase "QQ more" does seem to be most apt.

So customer suggestion hotlines, suggestion boxes, and email addresses are all, 100% of the time just for show and business's only care if I stop paying them?

Tell you what, you get into the customer service business, and whatever service you're providing, I'll be sure to stay the hell away from.

People are justified to bitch up until this point, now to say the patch as a whole fails or doesn't fail is going to have to wait another week. I think everything has been pretty fucking shitty up to this point. SE hyped this expansion more than any previous expansion and up to this point the notes don't reflect the hype at all, especially 3+ months after the expansion went live.

I'm starting to think that these update notes are some kind of large-scale psychology experiment designed to find out just how much shit people will take.

Re: Changes Scheduled for the March Version Update (03/04/2008)

Trying to go against the tide of discontent is pointless right now. People are upset because WotG turned out to be absolutely nothing compared to what it should've been. SE skimped on updates for like 6 months beforehand, then we get a regurgitated product which only had 3 real "new" zones in it (which used the same textures/building blocks as previously existing areas anyway).

The weapon skills we were promised (and shown as a major highlight in the WotG teasers) weren't ingame. They didn't learn from their mistakes with ToAU and introduce more missions at start, or even AF quests. Most of the job adjustments didn't make it. Campaign was introduced with incredibly reptitious mechanics, which bred extreme boredom, and had no good rewards. Campaign Ops were simply fail. And there were no good XP spots. WotG ultimately turned out to be puke, content we've already seen before hacked back up without any real substance or longevity to it.

People are unhappy. They have a right to be.

I actually like this stance that SE is taking now.. instead of 'promising too much' stuff with these trailers, they're revealing little and making most skeptics think its trash.
    Kinda like underpromising and overdelivering..

by the time the update comes, everyone will say its made of win.. i assure u

i dunno.. i really enjoy WotG. I think its planned out really well. It might not have events we all end up going to all day, but then again theres Campaign.. which is still evolving.. and really benefits the casual player-base. Hell, I've seen a whole bunch of people level to 75 through campaign alone.. Its like an alternative path that revolutionizes the way people exp, if they choose to take it. If you don't then its quite true, you don't get much out of WotG.

Campaign Ops rox btw, easy AN and exp on the side for a Lv10+ job that you don't really wanna level cos you don't wanna take thru the dunes? Love it.

    I'm calling it.

A week after this lame version update, they're going to announce a new expansion and then say,

"We apologize that our team hasn't been updating the game very often. The development team has been hard at work on the new expansion! Check out screenshots for a preview! *insert various screenshots of awesome shit that will never get implemented, like new weaponskills*"

Allows me to express my opinions? Why do you read if you don't care? Why bother posting?

I routinely make suggestions to SE via their email, honestly, you're new as shit, who are you to question why I post here? Why the fuck do you post here? Seems like all you ever do is take the opposing stance of a thread and go I'M COOLER THAN YOU ALL HURRRR

Yeah man, we should all mail bricks to SE - thats doing something.

The teasers..... look at the teasers for the ToAU era vs the teasers for this update, its obvious that someone different is doing them or the CoP team doing WoTG enjoys the back and forth fight with the playerbase they are trademarked for doing. If you played back when CoP was the new shit on the block then this does not surprise you one bit because thats what this dev team likes to do - cocktease. Its just history repeating itself with this team.

Corporations dont care, ok got that - but the point is that many companies have great PR and customer service relations with the consumers while maintaining their bottom line and making money in the end. Simple shit like billing server issues is huge news SE, are you telling me that they cant be as responsible as to apologize for fucking up and fix the issue thats happened now for a sum of months? Without the reps on the phone reading the standard issue guide to customer service? Yeah Right.

SE doesnt even outsource, so that shit doesnt even cover their asses.
