Wow, I feel sorry for that guy driving around all that white trash.Originally Posted by Andarvi
I think the bus driver did a pretty impressive job of staying calm, saying "just sit down" calmly, and standing her ground for quite a while there. I'd have probably just said "fuck it, get off the bus you whore".
Also,I recall a few years ago in my hometown (madison, wi) the highest paid city employee for the year was a bus driver, made $120,000 for the year, more than the mayor. Regarding city employees as universal "fuckups" is kinda lame.Originally Posted by Lbelle

It might've just been a freak thing where a guy with 40 years of union-guaranteed raises worked tons of overtime though (actually, if I recall correctly that's what it was) - the average does kinda suck, although at least most of them get decent benefits (especially important when you have kids)Originally Posted by Norelco

Wow, narrow minded much Lbelle? Most bus drivers are retired people, using it as a second job, and also require a great deal of training. Non school bus drivers go through alot more as well. And yes, they may not be 'glourious' jobs, but they get goverment benefits, and good pay; hell, here in Cincy, the average garbage man gets paid 60k a year.Originally Posted by archibaldcrane

Yes I am narrow minded since 90% of the bus drivers I've ever had the joy of meeting have been complete assholes. Granted they have to deal with annoying college kids/people that can't afford cars all day long, they still are always mean and obnoxious to everyone it seems like. Or they take their job way too seriously.
I've never met a NICE, old retired blahblah bus driver ever, it's always some mean fat guy who hates life, and lets everyone they're driving around know it. So, that's why I said what I said.
My bus driver from K-12 was great. Name was Lyle, treated the kids like equals. Was a real nice guy.Originally Posted by Lbelle

I guess that's why they always pretend I don't exist: I treat them the same way.
My K-8 bus driver always made us cookies and lemoade in the summer ^-^ She'd always sing songs, and hold conversations with everyone, and even made up little quiz games that had little rewards.
In my experience, a sincere "good morning" or "how's it goin" goes along way with people.
Erm, I mean, lolbus, I have a car, fuck you poor losers. Amirite?
Well, now I'm curious. Hypothetical scenario for the BG lawyers:Originally Posted by Norelco

The kids parents end up trying to press charges on the older guy for child abuse. Would they win? Or would the court justify hitting the kid when he probably wasn't in any danger to begin with (unless the kid had a weapon)?
I was 5'9 150 when I was 15 (which is pretty average) - arguing that a 30+ year old guy isn't in any danger when someone of that size is assaulting them is odd.Originally Posted by Khamsin
No, the court would respect the man's right to defend himself.
Try 10 years old maybe.

I don't treat them like fuckups at all. I always say hi or thanks when I get on the bus, and thanks when I leave the bus if I leave through the front door instead of the back one. I get the response "mhm" as does everyone else who also says thanks when they leave...so, whatever. Maybe it's where I'm from, and I ride a city bus instead of a k-12 school bus, but it's what I deal with basically everyday, people that have this job that act like they couldn't care less and that they hate their job. Not saying that they do, but that's how they act.
Lemme try again:
If you're such a fuck up that your mode of transportation is a bus, then you should expect people to treat you like you don't exist.
Better?
