School Bus Driver assaults student on Bus.

TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO DISAGREE WITH NIROKUN! (lol)

do you think that a busdriver should do anything and everything to "protect" a child and keep them on the bus? because this lady seemed to think physical restraint, hairpulling, shoving, and hitting seemed appropriate to "protect" this girl from walking home (ohnorapists). I think (great way to start a sentance i know) that the busdriver just needs to demonstrate (in court, if anything happened that made her go to court) that she attempted to "protect" the child and keep them on the bus.

believe me, i watched the video with the preconcieved idea that the girl was a spoiled superbitch and the busdriver was doing what she needed to do too; however, you just cannot tell me that it is within the right (and the explicit responsibility) to take (unconstructive) physical action against a child to keep them on the bus.

the girl stopped herself so many times from even cursing at the lady and tried to calm down (the huffing and the puffing, her grabbing the back of her head and talking to her friend) but the busdriver treated her like crap.

the girl tried, and tried and tried to just leave, and all she wanted was the phone that the busdriver tossed somewhere up front (you can see she just kept looking for it, and yelled back "i just want my phone.")

but if you guys believe that hitting another person to protect them from walking home is ok, well, i dont know what to say to you.

I will say yes, the video they were both out of line, however, a phonecall in the state of texas according to our insurance laws and state laws will not allow you off the bus regardless, unless it is made prior to travel. Also, depending on school policy, cellphones can be taken up and not returned for any instance. In my school if you were caught with a cellphone more than once, it was physically destroyed and never returned to the parents. But hey, my school was whack.

The issue is that if something happens to the kid regardless of 'heres a cellphone with my mom' the bus driver will have no way of protecting herself from legal action when the mother concocts a 'i never gave her permission to leave' story or worse, the lady gets fired for not following procedure. How do i know as a worker thats your mom and not your friend trying to pull a fast one?

You know how these things work, the family is never at fault in these situations and the family is more than ready to blitzkrieg the school system for not 'taking action' complete with politicians looking for a PR boost with the 'shame on your public workers, you never listen to procedures'

Id be covering my ass for my jobs sake as much as that lady probably was, in this day and age everyones looking to sue for some roundabout reason or brewing up some kind of sob story to get a couple million outta the city.

Fucking nanny-state mentality. There's no way that busdriver could have been sued if she was going to try to be rational and talk to the parent over the phone and let her out. Its all on tape. That's an easy lawsuit that no judge can fuck up on.

Issue is, that could be anyone on the phone. The girls speaking in a tone which not only agitates the situation but also shes trying to get some attention from the other kids in the bus. (Id know, i used to do it all the time....) Suppose she lets her off the bus, the girl goes somewhere and gets herself in a fucked up situation - whos at fault? Adult.

Not to say the driver wasnt being a cranky old lady who probably had it up to her head with these kids on the bus but yeah... kids are very crafty and are always willing to trick people to get outta situations they dont like then will turn around and beg for sympathy if someone harms them.

Its interesting. The girl just wanted her phone and when she tried to get her own property back she was denied therefore the bus driver was STEALING the cell phone.

I myself have had a cellphone taken from me in high school my father called the principal and the principal said no its your sons fault it was taken. He then went in spoke to the prinicipal and said "He that is under my name and if you don't return it to me the rightful owner in which the phone is signed to a contract I will take you to court for theft for full value of the phone OR for the amount in which it would take to replace the phone" nothing was said after that and the phone was returned to me the next day !

It got to the point where the principal actually had the P.E. coach and himself escorting me to Detention at one point, the bell rang, I went out a side door, scrambled over a fence and was gone into the woods faster than they could say "CRAP, HE'S RUNNING!"

Also this, did you watch too many 80s movies where high school principals are the root of all evil?

If every single bus driver I've ever met seems to be a dysfunctional person, then that's all I have to go off of. Their life as a whole might not, and probably isn't fucked up, but their job seems to be to me due to the way they treat their so called "customers" in every case.

Maybe it's where I'm from, and I ride a city bus instead of a k-12 school bus, but it's what I deal with basically everyday, people that have this job that act like they couldn't care less and that they hate their job. Not saying that they do, but that's how they act.

Yeah poor you, having to 'deal with' people who work at underpaid, dirty, unpleasant jobs with long hours.

I even stated that they probably dislike their jobs, however I don't intentionally do anything to make it worse, and also said that I even try to be pleasant everytime I get on/off the bus. But yes, it is having to deal with people, you deal with people every single day, what else would you call it?

Even so not everyone has had the privilege to go to college like we do. At least they aren't bumming on the streets and are actually trying to function as a member of society and work for a living.

I wasn't even using it... I pulled it out to check the time then put it right back and was told "Give that here kid" and I said "I was just checking the time" he's like theres a clock right there "Points to a broken clock" so I just gave him the cell phone and told my "daddy" the whole story.

And I would like to say that although there is very good public transportation near where I live, it stops about 10 miles short of the city I'm trying to get to. Waiting for busses sucks, we need usable monorails or bullet trains.
