I don't care what you guys think about Gamestop, but if you're gonna rag on me then I'm gonna defend myself.

not ragging on you just letting you know that you're bitching/complaining for little reason. if they really are giving you a messed up disc, then by all means complain and get it replaced. but your product isnt any less used. either way, the argument isnt going to go anywhere productive so just leave it as a difference of opinion.
And I can understand why it's not that big of a deal. But the original poster here got home, opened up the game and wasn't pleased. By all means he could go return it if he was really dissatisfied, but when you buy a new game you know you wanna go home, open it, and play it, not deal with that. If I got a Shania Twain CD, sure, maybe I'd be able to return it, but would I wanna deal with that shit? Nope.
The only way to be sure you're not getting jacked is to have the original packaging, and most customers expect that when they buy "new."
a lot of stores do tell you when they sell you the gutted one, and if you dont want it then just act like they're sold out. completely open with customers here about it and never really have anyone turn it down either.
solution: don't shop at shady places

you completely funked up the car analogy.
Dealer gets car and drives it, test drives etc. You go in to buy it. I can damn sure bet that in 99% of the cases the car will be at more than 0 miles, which isn't new by everyone's 'new' standard (oh you can buy new car smell also, it is a scent not the car itself).
However, once you purchase the car, very few dealers will let you come back a day or two later and say you know what I don't like it, I want my money back. Once you sign the paperwork ( or fork over the money ) it is yours and no longer new.
Gutting games is the same as a dealer test driving a car. Want a sweater analogy? ok. Go try some clothes on at the store, don't buy them. Have your friend try to get them as used, since after all he isn't the first person to wear them.
The OP failed when he didn't bother to look at his merchandise until later. Yes he shouldn't have to, but you still do it. He also failed when he thought the world and that crazy bitch were out to get him and they did it on purpose.
And your analogy is equally as fucking stupid as his. When you buy a car, everyone hase a firm fucking understanding that it has probably been test driven at one point.Originally Posted by AzazaelFenrir

Except it wasn't demonstrated on two occasions in this thread. They didn't realize it until they got in their car or got home. If it was, then cool, I'd be OK with that.Originally Posted by aurik
it should be, if it isnt, stop shopping as shady ass places.
I picked up my laptop from the repair shop yesterday, paid and signed off, went back to my car and discovered it wouldn't turn on. So I walked back to the shop (streetside parking in Seattle sucks) and they took it back for another day. Turned out the battery had completely died somehow and wouldn't charge anymore, so they just gave me a used one they had lying around that still worked. It was free of charge and all that, but point is, next time I'm going to test it before I pay, sign off, and leave the shop! Mostly because I don't want to walk to my car and back.Originally Posted by Tyche
And your laptop wasn't a new product, it was a repair...it was used, and you knew it had been used. Of course you would make sure it worked. Why does everyone insist on making analogies when it's obvious a correlation here is very difficult?
It's just that I went in to pick it up after they told me it was fixed under the good faith impression that it was fixed. All it means is to double check those good faith assumptions when you pay for something that should seem obvious what you're getting, whether it be a fixed laptop or a new ungutted game.Originally Posted by Tyche
And the conclusion is stop shopping at shady places that lie to you about the conditions of the goods you are buying. In any major chain store there are going to be good locations and bad locations, and it's stupid to judge the whole operation based on the bad apples.
I agree with you both, but different products have different assumptions that are tagged with them. You buy a new car assuming someone has test driven it. It's kind of a given. You get a laptop back from being repaired, you realize there's a decent chance that something could still be wrong, you just hoped they fixed it. When my phone busted and I was sent a new one, I assumed the problem would be fixed, and I sent my old phone back. It wasn't, the battery was bad. When I buy a new game, I assume I'm getting a nice, in tact game, with a mint condition manual and a case that hasn't had hundreds of customers thumb prints all over it. That's what wrapping prevents. As I've stated, the policy is fine, I have no problem with it. I do have a problem with GS not being up front with customers that their case and manual was on display, even if the game may be mint. Not all GSs are like that, apparently the aegis/excal dude's isn't. I'm fine with that.

And yes, my taco bell fucking sucks. It takes 15+ minutes to get an order with more than one car in line, and they are fucking stingy with the mild sauce. Other taco bells are fine![]()
sucks the only food near my gamestop is a kfc/taco bell combo place. learn to love/hate it. :l
So when you buy the last copy, and you change your mind, are you going to be pissed if they re-shrunk it so you could return is as unopened?Originally Posted by Norelco
