    Frozen image on FFXI

For awhile now, whenever I have anything over the FFXI window (set to same resolution as desktop) the screen for FFXI freezes. Has no ill effect on the actual game, I just can't do things online with the chat log showing anymore, and it's pretty annoying.

Anyone ever experience this, or know a solution? (Current windower btw)

Have you tried this without Windower?

Without windower... meaning that I couldn't have anything up over the screen to start with?

Yeah, but it's still kind of counterproductive. The idea is that I can lfg with my chatlog showing, and from what I hear SE windower sucks in pretty much every way it's actually possible to suck in.

Was just kind of hoping someone else had already encountered this and had some sort of insight.

    Re: Frozen image on FFXI

I had this issue a long time ago. I think it was a combination or isolated to the video card drivers, the version of windower, or maybe even Windows itself. Ultimately for me it's been a reformat and hard-drive swap since then, and I've not run into the issue again. I've also switched the heatsink on my video card as well, (but that was more of a heatsink failure issue): make sure that your computer is blown of dust regularly for performance-sake. And I'm running on a Nvidia 7800 GT card.

I think I remember it doing the same thing to me in CounterStrike or EQ2 or something; have you tried finding the issue in another game as well? If its involved with another game as well, then you know that its not a Windower problem, but a more global issue having to do with your OS and video card interactions.

I used to have this problem when I had Anti-Aliasing turned on in the card's settings. If you have AA turned on, try turning it off and see if that solves your problem.

Nah, I don't run ATI, I use a Nvidia 7950GT, but you might be onto something with the AA setting. It's entirely possible that I may have turned it on to force AA on some older game. I'm at work right now, but when I get home I'll look into the AA settings and check my driver, I think I installed the current detonators pretty recently but I'll go check again.

    Thanks alot for the suggestions.

EDIT: New nvidia drivers seems to have fixed the problem, thanks for all the help.
