wtf @ bore /burrow

After 2 months my chocobo finally learned both bore and burrow yesterday. I was excited, hopped on it and started digging away in a few zones that had additional items. Not. One. Single. New. Item. Obtained. WTF. So I thought, ok, maybe I have to wait a RL day for it to actually know it. Today I get home from work, check with the trainer, when I ask him about my chocobo's condition sure enough he lists that it knows bore and burrow. So I teleport off and call my chocobo and start digging. Again, NOT a SINGLE FREAKIN new item! WTF is going on here? I called a GM and he was about as useful as a screen door in submarine.

Is there anyone else out there with a chicken that has burrow and/or bore? Did it take some amount of time for it to start digging new items? Did your chocobo EVER start digging new items? This is really pissing me off, because the only reason I even wasted my time on this stupid bird is so I could get these abilities.

Did you try reassigning him to the whistle? My understanding was that a whistle bird's stats/abilities are only those that were in effect at the time it was assigned, and you have to reassign for any changes to take effect.

No, I didn't. I'll try that though. That would be nice if that's all there was to it!

Yeah, if you had a bird/whistle before you raised this new one, you need to get the new bird assigned/registered/whatever to the whistle.

And to answer your other question: No, for me there was no delay for bore to actually kick in.

Yeah this is it. It's stats don't auto-update, you have to "set" it again.

And yup.. that's all it was. Yesterday I went out for the 1st time after re-registering, and started digging up all kinds of nice additional goodies. 8)

One more quick question: is anyone else finding the Bore list under the wiki inaccurate? Either the rarity of some of the items is not correct, or my chocobo just doesn't like digging up certain items. I've dug up, on a number of occasions, items list under Very Rare, but to this day have not dug up any of the Bore items listed as Rare (specifically Demon Horn & Skull.)

Very. However, it's not in a digger's best interest for accurate digging info to be available to the general public, so I never fix it.

The wiki had that "skill up items" digging idea posted forever, and I never fixed that either. Last I checked, it still had crap like 'you need X stacks of greens to get to the next skill level', too.
