Yeah, I don't want to go bald, I just want a porn star quality carpet and a comfortable shave without worrying what gender I'll be today.Originally Posted by finale23

be men, it's not hard
Since you need a flat surface to get the best shave, you just jimmy your fingers behind your ballsac and flatten it out. To get the gooch, pull your package up toward you so it makes a smoother surface. As far as the penis itself goes, get an erection first. This will make surfaces a lot smoother and easier to work with, you just might have to take breaks in between erections to get'r back up.
Shaved balls on clean sheets is the best feeling in the world. Pubic hair sucks anyways; I've been bald 4 years now and I love it!
You might need to take breaks, but I'm no Bob Dole. However, if my shaving takes longer than 4 hours, I may have to see a doctor.Originally Posted by Demosthenes11
Have you tried shaving the other way with the razor? I had this problem many years ago - I was making downstrokes with the razor on my neck when I should have been making upstrokes. Try this if you haven't.Originally Posted by Tyr
Isn't that alot of maintenance though? How often do you have to shave it?Originally Posted by Demosthenes11
I do every saturday
Takes like 5-10 min anymore after doing it so many times
Like every 2 days to keep it smooth for meh. Definitely worth it though.
that norelco site was funny as hell. lol all commercials should be so open
It's mainly at the base of where I grow hair, on my neck. I've tried making upstrokes, but then there are damn hairs that don't get shaved.Originally Posted by volcanicweather
If it's just razor burn, try shaving with cold water.Originally Posted by Tyr

Didn't know shaving was serious business.![]()
I find that you probably need more than one stroke on the neck/under the chin. It takes 2 or 3 passes but I have never had problems. So yeah, start from the neck and shave towards your chin, it will probably help.Originally Posted by Tyr
My father was a barber for 64 years, learning from his father. So here are some tips.
1. Use a pre-shave solution (such as Lectric Shave brand, etc.). Massage, and let dry.
2. Use an Electric Razor (Any type will work, the more you pay the better the shave, period.)
(2.5) Use a sensitive/type shave gel (I preferably use oatmeal/colloidal based). Its a little more expensive, but you will see the difference (and the smell is great) quickly.)
3. Wash the residue (leftover shave gel) after you have completely shaved with the Electric razor.
(3.5) Make sure when you shave with the electric razor, to not shave against the grain. But with the grain first. This will raise your chance of creating in-grown/curly hairs. Also try to avoid shaving the same area multiple times with the Electric razor. Last thing to note before you put up the electric razor. Never put pressure on the electric razor (or any razor for that matter). Lightly let it cut against the skin.
4. Dry face, apply shaving conditioner (shave secret conditioner, etc.).
5. Shave with a straight razor (Mach 3 will work also, any brand etc.) to trim any leftover hairs from the electric razor. (90% of the time, this will be the canyon above your chin, sideburns, upward stroke on the neck, etc. (You can shave against the grain with the straight razor, just make sure to do it lightly, not against the skin with pressure, as said above...)
6. Wash face completely with water, apply facial scrub mask. (I personally use St. Ives apricot scrub. Smells great and you feel it working.)
7. Then shower. I usually use a colloidal based oatmeal soap bar for my face/body, etc.
Some rules to go by always.
-Exfoliation is you friend, do it and you'll be doing yourself a favor to prevent ingrown/curly hairs.
-Always use a clean/maintenanced razor/electric. People think cleaning their razors once a month is enough. I personally clean mine every 3 days with a no-oil based cleaner and brush.
-By doing the above, it will not only help the look of your skin overall and prevent in-grown hairs. But if you have breakout issues, it will extremely help with that problem, depending on how severe.
Anyways sorry for the wall-o-text. But I thought i'd put this out there for people interested to try/or go by for awhile. Goodluck.
I have done this regimen for 5-6 years now, everday in the morning before I would shower. And have not had one ingrown hair, or sharp grain on my neck/face.

I've got kind of sensitive skin and my beard hair on my neck likes to grow flat along my skin. Just shaving against the grain won't get enough of it off; my beard hair is quite coarse to boot. Hell, if it were curly I would think that I've got some African ancestry in me somewhere lol.
Anwyays, last year, after years of using an electric razer, I went out and splurged on shaving the way my grandfather did - with a double-edged razer. Pic for reference.

I got the boar hair brush and the Truefitt & Hill shaving cream (not soap, the shave cream is so much nicer) and I can't tell you how much I enjoy the shave I get now. I'm lucky that there's a shop in town that sells Merkur blades, pretty much the world's gold standard in razor blades, and has a nice selection of adjustable double edge safety razors. Sure, shaving does take a few minutes longer in the morning, but it's really a rather enjoyable experience now - not to mention a bit like getting a face massage each morning I shave.
Sure, I still get nicks and cuts, and a bit of redness on my third or fourth day shaving (I usually give my face a day of rest every two or three days, longer if I'm not needed to give some kind of business presentation or receive clients), but the investment was well worth it. The best part of it all; as long as I keep it clean and don't drop it, I'll likely never have to buy another razer again for my entire life. I might want to upgrade, but this one will just keep going and going. A pack of 20 Merkur blades is something like $10 and I can easily get 10 or more shaves out of a single blade. The shave creams come in all sorts of nice fragrances too - I honestly find lavender's quite soothing on my skin, and my girlfriend likes the smell it leaves in my beard, heh. Not to mention that a single tub of shave cream, about $35, will last around 6 to 8 months or more. Compare that to a $12 can of Edge gel every month.
Anyways, if you're willing to try something old-fashioned, but time-tested, look into investing in a decent adjustable double edged razer, bristle brush, and some high quality shave cream. Once you try it, it's hard to go back to electrics and the razor-and-blade game.
Yes, about a 20 minute process daily, minus the shower. Alot of people will think its too much to do once a day. But its really not unless your lazy, or not motivated about hygeine/looks lol.Originally Posted by Sythe
