Um, he's saying that the Hazhalm zone was added in an update. (note: I have no knowledge of whether or not this is actually true)Originally Posted by Hirokei Kiaza
Whether or not it was turned into Einherjar is irrelevant.

He's asking if SE ever introduced new zones as far as the .dat itself in an update. Every .dat for every zone in an expansion has always been introduced/contained within the expansions cd.

Your sig makes my head hurt.
SE added a job via update I don't think an entire zone is out of the question.
Summoners with only carbuncle are cool summoners.
I doubt a handful of eye candy and some files with JA/spell effects take as much data as a zone, especially when you consider mob placement, weather cycles, and lighting.Originally Posted by LinktheDeme

Uh...all of them?
Mob placement is done after the zone has been updated though i thought. not all zones have lightning too. And weather cycles arent that huge i'd imagine.Originally Posted by LD
There won't be Tavnazia or Jeuno. Do people seriously want an Auction House from 20 years prior linked to the present? That's retarded. SE also estimated before the expansion was anywhere close to coming out that there would be roughly 30 new areas. If there's demand, I could go link the quote. If Castle Zvahl gets 2 zones like in the present there will be 29 zones open in the end. 30 new areas is a fantastic approximation then. There won't be a new city, get over it.Originally Posted by Altana Festival in Osaka
Edit: I went and found the blurb about 30 new zones anyway.

Yea, but the logic is flawed, since technically, the bulk of a job's information is always brought over to the common folders, and since there aren't always spectacularly large updates after a new job is added (or at least, not inordinately large), you can't really compare the two. A Job's information probably makes up a handful of files & folders, where as zones take up most, if not all, of an expansion disc's space (which are usually around 3gigs.)
While dling a zone is not impossible (and apprently editing can be done without re-adding an entire zone), due to their size, its horribly unlikely, since if they did add one this way, if they added anything else, the full patch would be upwards of 120-200megs, which most of us with broadband can easily handle, but would totally push 56kers (56k=PS2, that's all I have to say there) into a state of frothy-mouthed bloodlust.
Adding a zone like this would be unprecedented so though it's undoubtedly possible, we have no reason to think it's even remotely probable.
The .dats can be manipulated in any way SE decides during a patch. The zone data won't even be all that big, assuming it uses a recycled tileset which any new zone more than likely will. I don't think they will add a zone, but it is certainly possible and would not add a huge amount to the size of the download, assuming recycled texture data.
If that were true, then why is the WOG disc the same size as the TOA disc?
about 30 areas?
Current WotG areas that are released = 18
+ 1 more zone for 3 cities = 21
+ jeuno, prolly 4 = 25
+ 3 beastmen forts = 28
+ 3 beastmen strongholds = 31
+ walk of echo = 32
+ castle zv/keep zv/glacier/xacarbard = 36
That's pretty much it.
Meaning you didn't actually read what I was responding to. Everything in WOG is recycled from other areas, if they didn't need to re-add an entire area to replicate it, we wouldn't have needed the expansion. While zones may be edited for little effort, they can't be copied, then edited on the client-side (at least not in a way that can be controlled by SE), meaning reused textures are totally irrelevant when adding (not unlocking) a new area to the game.
