Which expansion? If you're talking about ToAU, they were added in at later dates. Not sure on WotG, though.

When Hydra first came out he was up on live server, so was Khim iirc.

The oh so many smiling faces turned to horror when that thing dropped sum scales and an orobon lure..... good times, goood times.

they weren't up when the servers went live. i remember when hydra was added in a update, no one knew where it was til stanislav pointed out a location where his 3rd party app read it from memory then everyone across all servers waited at the pop location til it appeared, which wasn't until 12+ hours later. then the following morning, a huge thread began with everyone documenting their fight with it.
khim was the same way in that it wasn't up immediately on server up. my ls found a open area in mire and waited. we then got the first 3 kills on the server and the first two hauteclaires.

You don't download content if you don't have the expansion, right?

As in, if you don't have ToAU, you wouldn't be able to download all the "goodies" about Chocobo Racing, but you were able to download the Chocobo Racing front that was patched to each City. So even without ToAU, you knew Chocobo Racing existed, you just couldn't progress further because you didn't have the .dat installed from the CD which gave you the zone, and consequently the .dats from the download to put in said zone.

As such, Ninja Sneak is a RoZ onry thing, as Ninja is a job of the Zilart kind.
Fellowship NPCs are CoP information, and you can only access them if you have CoP.
And New Skillchains for a Automaton are ToAU onry, thus you'd need the ToAU expansion! (although this is kinda flawed statement because even a basic expansion would come across Automatons and their Skillchains derka)

I'm sure there's flawed logic in there somewhere, but you get the idea why more expansions = more data to download.

And Salvage zones are not recylced areas like Nyzul; Nyzul comprises of 8 seperate zones within the .dat file, Salvage area's each have their own .dat files, but are geometrically similar in pairs. However the Boss floor is different in each area.

Also, there is still an unreleased area of Whitegate they haven't made known to us, goddamnit... There's a .dat file there that has a centre that is Pankration-esque, with around 7-8 seperate areas spread through-out, like Assault areas (which are just 1 HUGE MOTHERFUCKING ZONE (per area), seperated by fake walls and replaceable bridges), which connects to the doorway underneath the Hostel (ya, the guarded door that you can target but cannot open, gggg) and is full of Zhabi architecture. And there are also 3 islands in Wajoam, Caedarva and Mount Zhayolm that have Stones on them which pair them up to the ones similarly found on land (the stone that is near Puk camp in Wajoam, is one for example).

But the Zhabi-Areas I suspect will be how we obtain and upgrade Nyzul Weapons; be kinda pointless to add that to WoTG now, wouldn't it.

(There was a programme out around on KI once that allowed you to view the zone .dats without any patches in them, and that's how I viewed all this stuff, required some doing but was well worth it to look at zones from the ultimate birds-eye angle)

iirc, you'll download the new content even if you don't have access to it. A long time ago before CoP was even in stores you could see some of the new gear & buy it even without having the expansion. As for Aht Urgan I didn't get it for 3weeks and I still could use Altana Viewer to view the .dats for the areas. I believe you'll download the entire update regardless of your owning all the expansions or not.

Huh? The majority of the items in FFXI are updated to the main program, and whether you have the expansion or not is irrelevant. You can participate in anything that does not have the "Requires x expansion tag'. Though really, it means you cannot load the zones these events take place in because they are not installed in your system. You can use fellows without COP. You can't even unlock PUP unless you have ToAU, and even if you do not have that expansion, the updates accompanying each expansion provide your main system with information about the jobs, npc, and abilities from that expansions, even if you did not buy it. Otherwise, if you do not have WoTG, your game would crash every time you examined a SCH or DNC or they used an ability.

he was saying if they didnt give you the files for them, you're game would crash. so just cause you don't have the xpac doesnt mean you dont have to download the files
