I have a question... when someone adds you, do you need to add them too before they show up on your list, rather than being there as 'awaiting confirmation'? And if so, how is it that I have one person I already added, and he added me too, yet on his list I show up as offline but on my list it still says awaiting confirmation? Do we both need to be on at the same time or something because i'm really confused right now..

Usually as long as both of you have eachother added you should show up as on/offline.
