I was informed that if I couldn't figure out how to jab with Ike, I'd never get anywhere...

soooo I learned it's safer to just never hold A and just do the taps

made me able to do side-b right with marth too but fuck marth for right now, I need massive training

Sub, I have a feeling you are learning Ike from Basic Brawl matches which is a common mistake people make. FSmash and Quick Draw as often as you do is open for major punishment later not to mention the randomness in your style isn't really--a style. Lack of FAir and doing what Geno avoided doing (holding Jab, being iffy).

You should watch some Ike videos and read up on him a bit. I like Smashboards site since they have some good info on each character and videos too.

Edit: Wasn't bashing if it looks like that. Was just trying to be helpful and honest. What may work in FFA (especially with Ike) may not work in 1vs1. You could only imagine how difficult it was for me to deal/avoid with two giant sword users and their smash moves in FFA last night.

I do appreciate honest comment but it makes me sad because: I do not hold a for jabs, I just can't stop fast enough to not swing in the air and I try to avoid jumping for attack because playing with wii regular controller makes it very hard to not high jump and being even more open to attack than intended.

Holding A for jabs isnt necessarily a bad thing if you understand the context in which it's useful.

I never really "took time" to understand this game. I don't really know what Fsmash is so I just assume that's what he meant, and I don't see how just holding it can be better than pressing A x number of times and stop when hits don't connect anymore. But please Ryko, feel free to teach me to play Ike like you do xD ur vids are good but most of that stuff I can't do anyway small jumps are a PAIN to do for me 99% of the time I just end up doing high jump and be vulnerable.
