I've never really liked watching other people. Yes, you can watch and learn some tricks that you didn't know existed but I like to try and find my own so I'm not always copying exactly what I've seen and don't become so predictable (which is my current problem).

    Kirby's my favorite character but Meian's played against me so much that he can usually beat him, while ROB and Peach are somewhat still able to get him off guard. I'm learning Pokemon Trainer myself. I'm great with Ivysaur and ok with Squirtle. Charizard is my one that I'm lost with. He's so slow compared to all the characters I usually use so it's awkward for me to play him. Sometimes I'll switch to him when I'm about to die so I can switch back to Ivysaur <.<;

Well, as for when I played Link, I never really thought about using the Hookshot as a means of approach and it really has helped my game with him considering his faults (lolrecovery). He has a lot of potential more so than most characters (as in tricks in his bag) but have to see what others may have come up with. Same went for Ganondorf with comboing after Thunderstomp at low % or Ness with utilizing PK Thunder appropriately.

I do come up with my own style too but adding tricks to my arsenal that I may have seen others do help too.

The videos also help with basic skill that you use on every char just about like to avoid roll spamming/standing at edge/spamming a button/edge guarding/etc. Took me a long time to get use to edge guarding triple jump and I still have issues doing it to some chars (Ike/Kirby/DK) while for some others it is easy (Ganondorf... /sigh)

Watching other people play is incredibly handy as long as you watch for everything. If you're just looking for tricks and stuff that's what combo videos are for.

Wifi completely changes the game and doesn't reward the same things as offline play does, so if you're going to play wifi, you're best off watching wifi matches.

That's the reason why I sandbag on wifi nowadays, my playstyle in person is in no way congruent with what's good to do on wifi, so it's easier to tone it down and blow everything up.

Well, what you said is true. I have no one to play offline with so all my playtime's on wifi. I watch your videos as well as a few others to see how you bait each other to attack and punish mistakes. I know one of my big flaws is rolling into people (as Ryko so greatly rewarded by up tilting me to my death). It's something I try to be aware of but it's so ingrained in me it's hard to stop. I've only ever started spot dodging since I started playing Brawl, and always used to roll in Melee.

I'm never going to really be at a tourny level with this game. It's honestly more of a way to relieve stress after working and school full time. I just want to be able to play at a better level to keep people on their toes and have fun doing it.

Eh everyone on wifi does it, they see snake standing there, they always roll into him. Best one is to drop a grenade one way so they think they HAVE to roll the other way.

If you want to cut certain habits, fighting me will honestly do it. All I do is punish habits, regardless of character. It's honestly the one thing I do completely right.

Alright, next time I'm online I'll add your number. If it takes being up tilted all day, break my rolling habit.

True words. Stopped doing some of the stuff (the rolling deal) after a lot of punishment. I still need to get the hang of knowing Jab's ranges on some chars...

Oh, my tourny info at last:

    Rules
    • One-on-One
    • Three-Stock
    • 1 Set, Best 2 of 3 rounds (will change to Single-Round if the enough people participate)
    • No Items
    • Double-Elimination
    • Random (no stage selection) Acceptable Stages (Battlefield, Final Destination, Delfino Plaza, Yoshi's Island, Smashville, Shadow Moses Island,)
    • No modified controller settings/altered buttons
    • No pause
    • Player dedication (participants must stay with one character on selection and on winning, but is allowed to choose different character after a loss.) Winners cannot switch to different characters between rounds, and can remain as the current character, or return to original character between sets/matches.
example. round 1= Mario vs Luigi; if Mario wins, Round two = Mario vs Marth; if Marth wins, Kirby vs Marth; After winning a set, the winner can either return to his or her original character or remain as winning character

Augh... Shadow Moses Island... man... -_- and no Norfair!!!!!!!!!!! There goes my damn counter stage for many chars (including Snake and Falco). They may disable tripping and will be recording this with extended replay.

Ok, I really need to fight Falco/Marth users since I know that will be the majority considering the way people play here (least back in the Melee days; I am sure most of them will be that) and prolly Snake. Erg, Ness has so many issues toward Falco and Marth =x

    No altered buttons? Retarded.

I don't play marth remotely the same online as I do offline so really I'd be of no help.

How could configuring buttons a different way gives a huge advantage to someone? Best it can do imo is only relocate buttons to personnal preference, doesn't give you a magic button to smash so you can just kill everyone that way.

Dunno, was going to ask but it doesn't matter to me. Long as I can have x as jump and tap jump off (don't use up+b motion on the chars I'll be using) then I'll be peachy. I'll prolly ask anyway and see what they mean and "why"

Thanks XD Yea I have to get up early too since I have to go all the way to university for it. Thanks for the sparring you made me realize I am not ready to try Ganondorf at a tourny yet =\ I'll stay with Ness and hope for lack of Marths XD

My bad for today I think it was me who may have been lagging it up a bit.

For me, your Wario is the hardest character to kill. I think he and Ness are your best bets for winning. My only other advise for you is even if you're winning 2 to 1 on stocks, don't get comfortable. You have a tendency to relax and then it let me start to come back at you during some of the fights. Keep pressure on your opponents and kill 'em off asap.

I got so lucky smashing your PK fire back at you lol. Took me a sec to register that you were trapped to go in for the up smash.
