Yeah it looks like I just can't hang with alts vs alts; broke out the main to keep you challenged. is missle canceling similar to toon link's shda? I need to learn ZSS's other half too sometime.. care to share your notes?Originally Posted by nivlakian
I lack experience with Toon Link, so I'm a bit unsure how to answer about the similarity between the shda and missile cancelling.Originally Posted by Nakayorz
About ZSS:
I don't feel I'm too good with her yet. I like her speed and range on her up smash and up+B (great to pull people out of the air). I tend to be unable to find a time to use her up tilt. Her forward+B is great to get a killshot with.
Her down+B > kick is great to kill people with high damage or to spike them off the edge if they are waiting there too long. I think when you use it, people tend to not know what to expect from it and leave themselves open. You can change it from the default inward direction, but from our fight, you already realized that.
I like the grab > down attack and then follow up with a Uair to finish the opponent off if possible. However, like Samus, she's left open briefly if you miss the grab. Her Fair is ok, but iirc, only the last kick is truly effective. Bair is good to finish someone off. Nair I believe is effective as well, but the range is short.
I really like the Dair. It's quick and if you hit them into the ground or while they are on the ground, it bounces them away. You can sometimes follow it with a dash > up smash.
One of the things I haven't gotten used to with her is that her down smash is one-sided unlike the other characters I use. So, if you aren't facing the target, then it's useless. Also, unlike sweeps, you have no chance to connect with it if they sidestep behind you. I also, tend to misjudge the distance of the neutral B and just end up not making much use of it.
thanks for the info . i guess i was misleading but when i said zss' other half i meant powersuit
Oh, woops. I misread![]()
I got a room setup if anyone wants to get some matches in. I'll be free for the next hour and a half or so.
So, I guess I'll write a little about Samus...Originally Posted by Nakayorz
I used to main Samus in melee, but avoided her at first due to the many changes they made. I won't bore you with those details.
For killshot on the ground your options generally are:
-Charge shot
-Fsmash
-Dsmash
-Down tilt
-Up tilt (if heel connects on upward part of the swing, like if someone is in the air just in front of you, it sends them sideways)
If the down tilt or down smash don't kill, you can often follow up with a Fair or Uair provided the opponent didn't fly up too high. If you use the up tilt on someone on the ground, they go straight up and you can again follow that up with something. The up tilt also moves Samus slightly forward.
Missiles are useful for building up damage, stopping forward charging attacks (like Ike's dash special), and interrupting recoveries. Small bursts of the charge shot can do the same similar to what Lucario users tend to do.
Several of Samus' moves are multi-hit (Up-smash, Uair, Fair) so you don't need to necessarily hit with the initial move. Nair seems a bit set in its knockback and makes for a quick move to cancel your opponents follow up air attacks at times.
I haven't found Samus' throws all too useful, but I guess it's good to grab someone if they are in grapple range, but out of Fsmash or Ftilt range. I can't find anything good to follow the throws with yet as people tend to easily DI too far away or the throw itself sends them too far. Perhaps a charge shot or missile can work.
The grapple beam can be used as an aerial attack too, but I'm not good at using it that way yet.
Not really sure what else to say, but I'm starting to like Samus again.
Lag spiked right as I went to edge guard = SD, orz
So I just got back from vacation and I havent played in about two weeks. Someone play me so I can not be rusty![]()
Oh so samus is your main..... this whole time I thought it was falco.Originally Posted by nivlakian
Samus was my main in the previous game. When I started Brawl, I didn't like the changes to Samus and instead chose to main Diddy Kong and soon after Falco. However, I've just been using Samus lately trying to get used to the changes they've made to her. You are correct that Falco is my main though.
Can I have 3 mains? I like Falco and Diddy Kong, but I'm coming to enjoy playing Samus again. haha
Anyone up for some matches?
Magus I need a lot of help 1v1. If you're still looking for people i'll play.
edit: i thought you posted this an hour ago

Great matches Xisin, some of those were down to the wire (I think one ended with like 57 seconds left).
Me: Lucas
Vandole: Pikachu
Thulius: Pikachu
It took me till my last life to realize I CAN ABSORB THUNDER JOLT.
With sudden teamwork and betrayal, a Lucas who is down 2 lives suddenly is reenergized and wins the game.
Edit: I gotta eat supper after this game, I'll be back after
i have yet to find anything more satisfying than smashing someone's face in with zelda's magical slipperssomeone recommend other fun things to do
Ganondorf is the biggest piece of shit character in this game. He's the last guy I need to beat 100 man Brawl with and I keep losing in the last 10 guys because he's just so fucking horrible.![]()
