    Pit discussion

I started playing with him after getting my ass handed to me by Kuno's Pokemon Trainer while using Zelda/Shiek today. After being told he's medium weight, I really want to use him as my primary.

Tips: Can "fly' like Jigglypuff 4 times in the air by flapping his wings. If he glides on the fouth flap (by holding jump down) he can't do anything else (Air Dodge, attack, Up+B) after coming out of it. But, if he glides before the fourth, he can do his remaining flaps, or whatever else he wants, including Up+B and Air dodging.

His Arrow shot is chargeable, and you can control it after you launch it to arc up or down. After you start charging a shot, you can change the direction you shoot in 90 degree increments, up, left, or right. I didn't try shielding while charging the shot to see if there was a cancel/store option. This is a great move to use in between flaps when you're recovering to keep pressure on the ledge and prevent your opponent from being able to set up an edge hog.

Reflector shield didn't see alot of use, not very familiar with it.

His Fly special is just very abusable, and punishable. If you get hit while doing it you're done, can't redo it like most characters. But he can fly all the way underneath most stages to the other side using this move, to grab onto the ledge for a safe recovery.

Forward+B can really rack up some nice damage quickly, it's great for use on jumpin, and seems to have very good priority attack wise. Marth/Ike counters knock you out of it however.

Anyone else have any strategies or comments?

Smartest way out of pit's forward B is just to DI out of it, especially if you use marth or ike because their swords outrange it and marth right outside of it will put pit at the sweet spot of marth's sword. Since it sits there for a second, DIing gives you an opening that pit can't really react against. From a pit perspective, it's best to let it go before theyre too far out of it, you still get quite a number of initial hits in for good damage. His arrow is super annoying to deal with, power shielding is probably the only real effective way to deal with it since you dont wanna lose momentum trying to approach a character that by design likes to play keepaway.

His forward tilt is the shit, lots of knockback on it too. Sliding into his up smash kind og makes up for its measly lateral range (I get too complacent with the range on similar up smashes, like link's, so I sometimes undershoot it ).

Kill moves are his forward air, back air, forward tilt, down smash, and to a much lesser extent his front smash.

THE BEST WAY TO PLAY PIT IS TO PUT IT ON 3 STOCK, STAND AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE AND SPAM PALUTENA'S ARROW RELENTLESSLY

DI = Directional influence, tilting the controller in the direction you want to go while being hit or while doing another move. So what I was saying is if you're being hit by pit's side B and pit is on your right, just tilt your controller to the left until you're out of it. Should be like 2-3 hits at most and you generally just get left standing right outside the range of it. Since it doubles as a reflector it's not all that great for projectile users to be right outside of it but for sword users like the FE characters (or just long ranged brawler types like DK) it's basically just putting pit right on the chopping block.

Yup, it's funny too most people DI into it unknowingly and just produce these awesome long forward-B hits. I've had people in there forever, but it's literally so quick to escape if you just go in the direction pit is facing.

I love playing Pit but hate playing against him. I know I probably do it but everytime I play a pit they spam those arrows, and they are fucking annoying. The rest of pit doesn't really bother me.

It's kind of funny how many good combos suddenly don't work when you realize that they can just DI out of most of them (my throw combo on ike only works if don't Di away, toward or not at all is fine), i used to be the same way at times and just by instinct DI the wrong way when pit did his forward B.

Pit is really fun, although I do seem to have trouble finishing people off (like someone said), but I just like his speed a lot as well as his obviously superior flying ability.

But I also don't have any experience with the reflector shield (or at least forgot whenever someone was doing a shot), does it reflect back at them like fox/falco? or is it something more akin to Ike/Marth's counter; I doubt the latter, but it seems sort of plausible only because his side b already deflects

Supposedly reflects back at twice the damage. I used it last night and it definitely reflected, but I can't be sure on the actual damage.

Pit and Metaknight can rack up on the hits, and crazy recovery, but that's about it without an awesome smasher, from what Ive seen.

I've been playing a lot of Snake actually, and I find him awesome in 1v1. He seems like a keepaway character but his tilts are extremely handy and his short jump down A is sick (the one where he kicks in the air, I don't know all the terms blahblah). He seems to me like a rehashed Link but with a lot cooler items and a hell lot stronger.

As long as you're not smash happy snake isn't a bad character, it requires a lot of planning on your part but he's actually pretty decent. I felt that he sucked too until I saw some really good ones.

Exactly, his over A compensates for its extreme lag with its punch, but really, how often will you pull it off? Juggling a player with two mines (Smash Down A and Down B), two grenades, a lob rocket (smash up A) and a rocket that can be canceled at anytime with R/L along with powerful tilts makes Snake a force to be reckon with in the right hands. I really, really plan to master him. D:
