The preemptive nerfs never get the attention they deserve. We might have had WAR/DNC main healing merit pts if they didn't nerf it now!

Whats the haste difference between marchx2 and SV marchx2?
March x2 is roughly 20% and SV marches are 40%

All in all, it's not much of a gear change for 2h zerg.
Don't take my numbers forI could be way off.

I think the balancing was only being fair to other jobs (and especially MNK) because even their 2HR couldn't reach that kind of crazy haste that DRK was putting out It was something put in place to balance the job's extremities and I don't think its all that big a loss since KC zerging still works. I'd almost say that its approved by SE since its been around for so long and not nerfed.
I think its part of their way of saying, we accept this style of play, but aren't gonna let it be something that everyone can attain.
so it's ok for the ultra rich or ultra lucky with KC, but not the rest of us? and not the folks that spent a year or more upgrading apoc? makes perfect sense...
i'm all for balancing but this was mainly a rune chopper issue, there was no need to fuck over apoc for zergs. I think SE should have imposed different caps depending on the weapons hitting the common 2h zerg weapons hard and leaving apoc untouched due to it being rare.
If you found a way to get an apoc you can probably find a way to get a KC for zerging. Also, it's not like apoc is worthless now. It's still by far one of the most powerful relic weapons- I don’t feel sorry for anyone who owns any relic weapon (even staff... your money, your choice). You invest in a relic weapon because it’s a job you’re passionate about. If you do for any other reason you can QQ all you want but it’s not going to change anything. And in drks case, they still have their most powerful standard weapon as their relic.
If the only time you use drk is to 2hr zerg a HNM... why have an Apoc? When you're not zerging, Apoc is an amazing weapon still.
Crazy-2hr-drk zerg never was meant to be for every single drk to do. This is SE fixing that problem. How do you think every drk that worked for a kclub felt when everyone starting coming out with rune choppers and coming within an inch of their damage?
Drk is, and will remain one of the most powerful DD jobs with their 2hr in tact. Just be happy they didn't nerf that while they were at it.
you're either noob or you're pro, thats life. if you aren't serious about the game, you shouldn't be doing serious damage. if you wanna be pro, pick yourself up, make some gil and get a kraken club.Originally Posted by mallister
to be more exact: what sense at all does it make to nerf RC and apoc, but leave KC/riddil/MK untouched? RC yeah i can see (i'm annoyed, but i can see it. besides, it'll get rid of the bandwaggoners, which is fine by me), but nerfing apoc while leaving the others untouched was sorta retarded.

Granted it's not way past the hard cap like DRK could get before, but I think more than just DRK can hit the new cap now.
Sword strap is not haste, it is delay reduction which doesn't stack but is applied after haste or before haste (doesn't make a difference between 2 x 3 x 2 or 2 x 2 x 3, same result in the end, but definitely not 2 x 5). So you will be at around 78%.
I think DRK should have their own Q_Q topic, something like when WOTG came out and there was a Q_Q topic for those who couldn't pick up the expansion for a few days or something, iirc. Yes it lowered your damage, but as Wafik said it lowered the insane and didn't kill anything. 90% of any 'zerg i've ever done has 4~5 DRK and it's pure overkill, what would adding 15seconds on to a fight do? (Well, in BV2 it might summon a Wyrm...but you could have a RDM keep it busy). This patch in no way completely ruined DRK D: I think they're just a little emo that after so long they finally get hit with the nerf gun. (Hi2uDRGpentanerf)
This is bad but if you are a dedicated drk, you will figure out a way to zerg again. With fortitude axe, 30 hits in 30 sec isn't out of question with some DA and TA stacked up. So you do about 3/5 of what you did before, which is still better than most other jobs.
I am gonna work on a new setup now. Perhaps it opens up /drg and other possibilities.

Third: If one more person says that their Apoc is worthless because they can't go into God mode for 30 seconds once every two hours I will kick them square in the virtual nuts. If this is the reason that you got an Apoc, you are a moron, and deserve to be nerfed.
Of all the nerfs in the game that SE has done, you have no freaking space to whine. RNG after the RNG nerf, BST after the MPK changes, BLM after the discovery of the melee burn. These people have the right to complain. Not being able to kill Bahamut 2 in 23 seconds, that is not a reason to complain.
* Mild annoyance mixed with the acceptance of the fixing of unbalanced game play: OK!
* Whining that your Apoc is worthless because you can't solo God: Fuck right the fuck off.
Exactly, like the above post mentions this is a mild annoyance. Remember the RNG & BLM patches? The exact same panic happened then 1month later people finally realized it wasn't the end of their job. D:
The point is that if you can get to 80% haste, since Sword Strap is independent from the haste cap it should further decrease your delay. This should apply to DRK's too.Originally Posted by Nameless
I would go further. The RNG nerf was WAY over the top. They definitely needed to be nerfed, but not as much as SE did to start. After the RNG fix to improve it, then they were much better off and more balanced.Originally Posted by Octavious
This nerf was much more thought out, and much more balanced. I am sympathetic to the idea that maybe Apoc's haste effect should supercede the haste cap, just to make the Apoc a little more special, but honestly my criticism still applies, that if you got an Apoc just for the zerging then you got it for the wrong reason.
For a little bit of fun math in case anyone is interested.
At ~93.3% you attack ~14.925 times during the delay of one normal swing with 0% haste.
At 80% you attack 5 times during the delay of one normal swing with 0% haste.
The damage ouput while desperate blows is active is effectively cut by 2/3rds for Apoc/RC zerging.
To be honest, I don't care too much about the cap being placed on high haste builds. When I first got Apoc, Hasso didn't even exist. =p Zerging /w Apoc was kinda cool, but I never relied on it much /w my style. I still have my kraken club for situations where zerging might be useful(and Abs-ACC too!) The only thing that kinda sucks is losing out on a bit of potency during Last Resort in merit pts.
