lol well after I bought the logs I spent a bit of time logging and selling them off making about 3 million, but the point is the cuffs took some effort and its sad I can't use them on my current obsession. v muffs I would have been 1/1 on but I helped out a lsmate who had blm 75 but had had no luck getting zenith mitts. so now I am 1/5.

Re: Scholar Discussion #3 (post March patch)

Just to update on some SCH/RDM solos I have been messing with... Beat Double Dragonian KS30 on the first try - I don't really know of any other job ever soloing this.

Sleep II lands on the Minstral (~7,000HP) without Elemental Seal so I opened with that, Gravity'd the Berserker (~10,000HP). The reason I think this was "too hard" of a solo for other mage jobs was that Gravity, Sleep, and Bind, all land, but only twice as far as I can tell before resists kick in, so there is a lot of speed involved since you cannot do too much w/o access to at least one of those.

Open'd with Sleep II on Minstral, Gravity Berserker, then speed kill the Berserker using Tabula Rasa; Blizzard 4 on Iceday + hailstorm was doing about 1500 for me using Ebullience. Was about 33% after Tabula Rasa in the first minute. After that, a couple more nukes and it was dead. There was a lot of charge usage involved in this one. After this, the Minstral had been awake and was just running to me. Reached me right after I killed the Berserker (lots of Alacrity helped on this - I went with Alacrity as the main Stratagem over Parsimony after Tabula Rasa wore). I then suicided to reset. Minstral was much easier with 3,000 less HP and the fact it stops to cast long duration songs.

I think SCH is the perfect job for this type of solo. You need a lot of speed and damage potential to kill one of these before you get those enfeebling magic resists. BLM casts too slow... Even if nukes do a lot more, you would have a hard time killing 1 before the other wakes. It's also not safe to let a dragon get too close to you. RDM lacks damage nukes and elemental skill. I had to actually switch into elemental skill gear on nukes after a dragon 2hr'd (massive increase and strength and resist after 2hr use).

The most important thing I think this stresses for a nuking SCH/RDM is that speed can be a big factor. Switching to Alacrity during these speed kills over Parsimony as the main strat is actually really useful.

Tabula Rasa really is a thing of beauty for speed kills. Normally using Alacrity over Parsimoney or using Ebullience over Parsimony would be damned foolish because of the wasted mp efficiency. Tabula Rasa just lets you spam the charges as much as you like, the combination of all 3 pn the dark arts side is like Chainspell + Manafont + Azure Lore. As a BLM main it makes me jealous, but as my Scholar rises in levels I appreciate it more and more. The only flaw in the design is it says it optimises both white and black magic potential but it does not allow you to use the Light arts charges while its up and you're in Dark Arts. That seems contrary to the description.

You are free to switch to light arts and dark arts freely as timers for those during 2hr is reduced to 0.

maybe it's my imagination but Manifestation'd offensive spells (Sleeps/Gravity/Aspir/Drain) give way more hate than they should. Like, I'll cast Aspir on a group of 5 or 6 campaign mobs that are missing at least 1/3 of their life already, pull hate on every single one, and not lose it until I die.

If resists are such a big deal endgame (my SCH is still 65), wouldn't AF body be a better option to make sure the Helices land unresisted?

My SCH doesn't see many endgame events(heck, other than gearing it up for campaign, I haven't brought it out for about 2 months), but I only wear AF body. I would like to know what other full time mages would wear if not the AF body.

Golaird Saio is good for healing and Errant/Mahatma body is good for nuking low level stuff.

If you face something you know will not resist, generally the accepted bodies are mahatma>>yigit golmek>>errant.

Just a quick question, do weather spells affect equipment? And what about movement speed +% equipment like Desert Boots?

lol yes they are. They were the first thing i bought for my sch when i first started leveling it, and I couldn't wait to be able to wear them. They're especially awesome when used together with a charge from the sprinter's shoes for 24% movement speed bonus. great for covering a lot of ground on foot for a good hour.

At the risk of being an idiot, is this really a glitch? I thought it always worked this way. To be fair, though, I've never sat and waited for the charges to come back.

Starting to wonder if a small number of characters were glitched or if I'm just insane apparently...

In any event, looks like whatever happened to my character (or in my brain) is here to stay...

Seriously man, just let people reply. One of us is wrong and I'm prepared to accept it if it's me; and if I am the one that's wrong, it will be fixed. You know there are a million maints after every patch. Stop drinking so much.

SCH charges refill 1 at a time, with the recharging time based on how many max charges you have.

Max 1 charge, recharge time is 4:00 min.
Max 2 charges, recharge time is 2:00 min.
Max 3 charges, recharge time is 1:20 min.
Max 4 charges, recharge time is 1:00 min.

Re: Scholar Discussion #3 (post March patch)

Well I got extremely bored and curious with helix dmg on sch so i decided to look at a few things for sch (such as comparing the macc+20 int/mnd/chr+10 staff to a hq staff for dmg) and got some interesting #s.

Going off the dmg formula [(F-1)+25-G]*M
where F= user int G= mobs int and M= multipliers of this and is
M=(potency ja) P*(mab) B*(nq/hq staff)C* (day/weather combo) W (all are assumed at 1.0 value base with additions added in decimal form i.e hq staff has C=1.15)
    Or M=P*B*C*W

assuming M was equal on P,B,W and that G was equal to you would have to have 46.6 (rounded to 47) int over mobs int to see the point where HQ staff was equal to 10 int on the other staff.

Now to see what the min dmg value you need to see if your breaking this barrier for efficient returns on hq staff is:
    F-G=47
    (47+25)*M
    M=1.1(single effect)*1.2(job ability)*1.29 (/rdm moldavite and .4 from yigit)*1.15(staff value)
    (72)*1.96=140

So until you can break the 47 int barrier between you and the mob this new staff will be better then a hq staff for dmg. If you can break this barrier with only 1.29 mab only 1 day or weather effect present (1.1) and potency ja (1.2) you will always get 140 damage at least. So if your not hitting at least 140 dmg helix you have n
