Overall, the MP used to make yourself run faster would make the fight significantly faster. I'm no Scholar, but having soloed Ix'aern Monk twenty-one times on Black and Red Mage(without any form of movement speed+), I know I could have speed the fight up considerably if I could cast spells other than Poison, Bio, and Drain. Without any movement enhancements, its extremely easy to keep yourself at ~25.0 away from it, just by utilizing the poor pathing. If you have moment speed enhancements, the only limit to how far away you can get from it is the point at which it will change directions on you.
Alright and i'm looking at doing a 3 organ pop planning on having either a thf or pld sac pull it and a whm near by to raise while i solo it down. Any particular method to make this go clean and smooth
Well to be honest, if you're going to bring additional people to help you pull it, you may as well just have the Paladin kite it around the Ebon Panels while you nuke it down.
If you want to solo the entire ordeal, simply pop the three Aern fully buffed, run to the Ebon Panels, die, Reraise, and grab Ix'aern Monk. As long as you have some sort of Refresh(drinks, cloak, what have you), its extremely easy to solo him even while weakened. When weakness wears off, attempt to heal yourself up a little bit at a time(or quickly, if you decide to use Desert Boots to gain significant distance on him), and then start using the heavier artillery. Using this method, I generally take ~ an hour to kill him(Poison2, Bio2, Drain). As long as you're using Sublimination and some Refresh piece, and are using Desert Boots, you should be able to cut that time in half. Also, from what I hear, Helix spells are incredibly potent against Ix'aerns, so definitely use them.
alrighty and well other wiki mentions something about the popper having to do actions on another mob to lose claim on ix mnk for pld would that be say provoke+flash on a qn'aern then ix mnk should go yellow and i can claim it?
Well, if you are determined to stay alive through the ordeal, yes, you would have to initiate some sort of action on another mob for Ix'aern Monk to go yellow. It'd be a lot less complicated to just die though.
Oh, and you'd also need some sort of movement enhancement, or you'll likely get wiped out before you get a chance to even cast Dia on something. Subbing Thief for Flee(SJ really doesn't matter for this), Hermes Quenchers, or Gaiters/Wlegs work. If you use Flee or Hermes, just be sure you don't get too far ahead of Ix'aern Monk, because if he loses aggro on you, its pretty hard to get him back alive.
In SCH thread #1 or #2 Kaeko mentioned that he soloed to 75, I asked him about it, and he posted a pretty detailed explaination of where and whatnot...can anyone find that post? My search skills are fail today.
I've gone 37->51 (well 2k away) via Campaign battle spamming crap, but I'd kind of rather get a few hundred KS/BS on the way to 75 less boredom+carpal tunnel too.![]()
51-54 kuftal tunnel on leachs
55-60/61 best bet is to duo bat in psoja or go /nin and use potency nukes 2 should take them down try to open with strongest nuke first. theres not much room for gravity kiting and bind can backfire easy to.
61-64/66 /rdm or /nin on bibikibay rabits
64-72 /rdm or /nin newton bats.
72+ can solo like blm or try manaburns.
Alternatively if your /rdm and soling no harm trying to get a party to break up the grind. healing partys 68+ was a breaze with phalanx ss and phalanx and being able to land debuffs as well.
Hope this helps its what i did.
He used this old BLM solo guide that was written on ZAM and re-written on IckyWiki:
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Bl..._by_Lion_heart
I followed it from about 25-50, then used Campaign and main healing parties to get to 60, where my wife and I picked up the BLM solo camps as a duo, with Campaign as a supplement. We're 65 at the moment.
SCH73 as of yesterday, all solo. These were the areas from 50+:
51-53 Chigoes in Rolanberry [S] (5 spawns just south of the battle tower)
53-58 Yag's Elemental in Sarutabaruta [S] (near Giddeus)
59-61 Chigoes in Caedarva Mire
61-64 Chigoes in Aydeewa
64-70 Goblin's Bat in Newton Movolpolos
70-73 Qiqirn RNGs in Alzadaal
Chigoe's take a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it they are very squishy and you can chain 4-5 without too much trouble. Hope this is helpful.
* credit to an Alla thread for some of these solo spots

I used Lionheart's solo guide on OldWiki, specifically...
Newton D-10 Goblin Bat
Subterrain Fossorial Flea
Subterrain QQ RNG
Newton G-6 Goblin Bat
Ruins QQ RNG
Puddings only after 72 (Errant Gear get)
I'm sure it's much much easier to solo now post 70 since I did this before the March SCH super-buff patch using tier 3 nukes.
I am so sick of SCH right now. I love the job but getting parties is such a freaking pain in the butt during EU time. I'm 6 k from 66 and I found myself in a MB mini party last night where at least I got 9k rather than trying to form parties out of thin air. When you're sitting there with a BRD and a good DD from your own shell, but can't find tanks or DD's and your 61 RDM alt is getting invites every time he blinks... AAaagh.
I soloed so much on BLM (almost all of 40-70) I'm just sick of it but back to it I must go. I will blackmail shell members once I hit 70![]()
Well it could be worse, we get the single target spells within 3 lvls of when a BLM would have them, and with sublimation and AF hat if you time it right you get around 3000 mp an hour (of course you need stoneskin to be able to rest so this is difficult before level 68 when /rdm has access to it, yes /whm can do it earlier but you lose your mab trait) My point is soloing is no huge chore once you get up there.
Wow... the biggest problem on EU Alexander is lack of tanks. I'm hoping it'll pick up. I know I can solo and I will if I have to but BLM is nowhere near as useful to an xp party as a SCH, you'd have thought it'd be reflected in invites. In JP time, I can usually get a party, but that relies on me being home in the week (I work) or competing with JP SCH at the weekend.
Still, it's a great job. Had a lot of fun doing swift belts on SCH rather than WHM. Being able to AoE erase so regularly is really win. Let alone aoe cure other parties.
Has anyone tried to solo a limbus yet I've attempted a NW appo a few times but timing on strategems and the time it takes to kill a mob as an elv at least is not lookin to good.
Good to know that I'm not the only person with problem getting a group in to the mid-60s.for all of us.
