Scholar Discussion #3 (post March patch)

Wow... the biggest problem on EU Alexander is lack of tanks. I'm hoping it'll pick up. I know I can solo and I will if I have to but BLM is nowhere near as useful to an xp party as a SCH, you'd have thought it'd be reflected in invites. In JP time, I can usually get a party, but that relies on me being home in the week (I work) or competing with JP SCH at the weekend.

Still, it's a great job. Had a lot of fun doing swift belts on SCH rather than WHM. Being able to AoE erase so regularly is really win. Let alone aoe cure other parties.

I've been on a crusade of sorts to "spread the word that SCH rocks" and impress people in parties. 20-50 was a long road, had to prove that SCHs can make good healers too. Many times when the WHM leave a PT I'm in, everyone feels as if the world has stopped.

"Guys...I don't have haste..but it's not the end of the world o_o. I got acc Pro IV, shell III, all na spells, aoe phalanx, etc. We're ok."

0 RDM, WHM seeking. 1 SCH. Just grab the sch Dark Arts is dead in TOAU areas outside of Mount Z, but Light Arts is still alive and kicking.

Has anyone tried to solo a limbus yet I've attempted a NW appo a few times but timing on strategems and the time it takes to kill a mob as an elv at least is not lookin to good.

I know my friend soloed NW on scholar.

I think I'm resigned to Campaigning/Soloing 68-70 ish - at which point I shall grab shell members and make them suffer.

The "get PT while not seeking" streak ended at 71. 62-71 lol.

I'm pretty much campaigning to 75 now because I don't think I can handle "merit style" parties as a lone mage and 5 DDs :/. Too used to having convert as a safety net I guess.

I'm pretty much campaigning to 75 now because I don't think I can handle "merit style" parties as a lone mage and 5 DDs :/. Too used to having convert as a safety net I guess.

Then go with Black Mages. The BLMs go nuts whenever I say I don't mind going out to Mt Zhayolm with them. Then Iceday and Thundersday becomes one big dick-waving competition for them.

yeh. Like you know how gear says it is affected based on the day. Well there is a video of youtube showing scholars only weather speels. It shows animation of weather that we can't use yet. so maybe that will be it. I mean if we can do that omg shiva's ring would fing pwn.

Those are Pixie TP moves of the seasons, people initially thought they would be used for Scholar since if I remember right, Pixies were added to the "original game" before the expansion was released via patch.

Oh ok. But I still hope we get the ability to change the day for yourself or party memebrs.

I would settle for their giving sch regen 3 (since it looks like we were intended to get it), and maybe regen 4 as a meritable spell. It's weird that the one spell line we get earlier than other jobs cuts off so abruptly.

They didn't want it to outshine WHM too much.

Although Regen3 would be nice for unlocking with arts, since we can unlock t4 nukes with arts.

Hmm, if it's just Regen 3, I don't think it'd be a big deal. So there'd be 2 jobs with Regen 3, WHM still has Cure 5 (plus, WHM is still the one with regen buffs...for now ). Regen 4, on the other hand, might be big enough to necessitate giving something good to WHM before giving the spell to SCH. In any case, they should both be Light Arts only anyway, be good to be forced to use it for something other than status cures.

It probably cuts off so abruptly because we can AOE the damn thing for barely any MP.

AoEing Regen III would be more than a little overpowered... and my inner WHM screams out against it. I really enjoy SCH but I'd hate to see that.

Last thing I need is some WHMs having anti-SCH attitude and giving me hell for what SE done. No thanks, let them keep Regen III lol.
