Is it just me or does this seem like breath damage? It's magical in nature but Shell/MDB don't seem to affect it I've heard from some reports.
Looks like Spirits Within damage to me... only inverted and it can skillchain.
Is the answer to this known yet?Originally Posted by miokomioko

It would still be better to do them separately, especially if you're pulling off 4000 MM + 8000 SC. If you have 6 PUPs, and all do MM together, you'll only do 32000 damage rather than 72000.Originally Posted by Amok

Congrats PUP's!!! :D
I thought about the same thing, but then I figured doing one massive 70~90k+ damage upon engaging in one blink would not only kill a lot of NMs without complications, but also lessen the possibility of AoE wiping out anyone's 1~10hp Automaton. Especially so if you literally have 18 of them and no tanks. An alliance PUPs put up fire maneuvers, engage, deploy, and one would drop a Dragon Kick. Possible server explosion.Originally Posted by Khamsin
I suppose for some NMs that don't have a significantly strong regen, and for a group that has a viable tank, taking turns on Dragon Kick > Magic Mortar for extra SC damage would be smarter.
At least I finally get to come PUP to a raid or two now after having been 75 since around when the AF was introduced.
You just made my day. :DOriginally Posted by Lordwafik

I think day-of-week and weather bonuses get added in after the base SC damage calculation, but I always thought that you needed at least a level 2 SC to be created first before the level 3 SC could break the 1:1 barrier?
For instance,
WS1 > WS2 (Fragmentation) > WS3 (Light)
could break 1:1, but not..
WS1 > WS2 (Light)
Also, I don't think that a mob can have more than 1 SC effect on it at any given time. Wouldn't 1x Dragon Kick > 18x MMs would produce only 1 Light SC, with its damage calculated by the first MM that connected? All subsequent MMs wouldn't product any SC effects, the last of which that connected would be used as the starter for a new SC. You would need an 18x rotation of Dragon Kick > MM in order to produce 18 SCs.Originally Posted by Lordwafik
You can still pull in a day/weather bonus to bring you past the 1:1 ratio on 2-step Lv3 SCs, but at that the cap is 25%, and you have an extremely low chance of being in the conditions for it and it actually happening due to the non-100% chance of getting day/weather bonuses without Obis (which I'm pretty sure if the closer has the right obi on, the bonus gets added, but for matons this is a moot point).
But the effect of the SC out of that will not go past 1:1 unless due to special properties of the mob (like puks).
I can't believe we're entertaining discussion about a PUP zerg for AV.
It'll get even better after AV is killed for the first time using a reproducible method involving 18 PUPs.Originally Posted by SathFenrir

All PUPs make sure have 100%+ TP on their Automatons with all of them having low HP. Also make sure the Masters themselves have 100%+ TP with Inhibitor so Magic Mortar doesn't go off the moment you deploy your Automaton.
PLD engages AV, so it's not facing the PUPs. The 17 PUPs then Deploy the Automaton, make sure they're all in melee range, then 1 PUP goes in, Dragon Kick, possible server implosion with so many Magic Mortars going off, and wipe. Reraise, but have a separate party/alliance there to make sure AV doesn't Regen. The 17 PUPs then Raise up, go to Tavnazia, switch jobs to reset Activate timer, then build up TP again while the other alliance keeps AV from Regening. After TP is built up, fire second volley.
Rinse and Repeat.
Rough idea, but possibly plausible?
It's pretty amusing that this is probable (IF an ally of puppetmasters existed).
There might be 18 PUPs on Pandemonium, but they're all spread among rival alliances, NA, JP and EU.Originally Posted by miokomioko

With a substantial amount of luck though, this really does seem horrifyingly reasonable.
What if the tank uses goblin footprint lock after the first wipe? Then the scenario involves a GM showing up and B&ing the whole zone.![]()
