I've never once came /Mage to a Fafnir/Nidhogg. Well, to each their own.

Is it true?![]()
Anyone tried if this affects HB trigger too? Seems like SE made this update to make DRG a decent healer in merit pts.
What I meant Jay is that it COULD have been useful if say, you could run out and get a quick 1 or 2,000 exp before an event and as long as you kept that 'same' wyvern summoned he'd keep his buff, but no...disappears when its zoned = more or less useless in those events it could have been nice in, oh well.4evrDRG wrote:
Yes zoning wipes the buff so its completely useless on anything you may actually want an improvement for, ie: endgame content.
What do you mean? Zoning from killing Darters, etc? Can't use it for Salvage/Assaults(?)/Dynamis/Besieged/Campaign(on a different note, but would experience earned before participating carry over?)/Limbus.
Only other place I can see it not be worthwhile is when farming Sky in different zones (depending on how long you are there. A lot of NMs require you to kill PH's etc). Then there's Sea. Same as Sky, and just as annoying.
So, Endgame was already limited for the most part, but zones where you COULD get Exp are still worthwhile, just depends on how many times you have to zone. When it comes to HNMs, better beg your LS to kill Darters, and kill those antlions before you engage tiamat!
I guess I just had higher hopes, the way SE described this at the festival sounded really exciting and could have been so cool. I hope this update doesnt turn into some kind of excuse for SE to ignore wyvern for the next year.
Triggers are still the same, unfortunately.Originally Posted by Darkani

Gah, those "attributes" raised should also be some magical resistance for these types of battles.until Hurricane Wings eventually took out my wyvern.

lol I should try that next time. It's got to be easier then the RR3 > die > log > RR3 > die cycle I kept getting into on WHM.Originally Posted by Akanei
With Wyrm Armet, Homam Gambieras and Drachen Brais +1 I've hit just over 400 on Healing Breaths a couple times, though the usual is right around 375. It would be interesting to try this out when I solo coffer keys and other stuff this weekend.
I agree this won't be useful in most HNM situations, Limbus and Dynamis but anyone that thinks it won't be useful in Assault hasn't farmed too many boss floors in Nyzul. Get a couple 'All' or ITG family floors on the way up and it could make a nice impact since you don't technically zone between floors. Then again, it's SE so the effects are probably wiped going floor to floor.![]()
I haven't tested the absolute max just yet, but with all +wyvern HP gear on, a fully powered-up wyvern, 300TP, and Deep Breathing, I speculate that you'd be able to break 1K on an HB. I was hitting 840ish the other day with DB and wearing Wyrm Helm, Brais +1, Chanoix's Gorget, and Homam Feet.
I believe the max was 938 prepatch with
Wyvern perch
Wyrm Armet
Wyvern Mail
Ostreger Mitts
Chanoix Gorget
Drachen Brais+1
Homam Gambieras
300% TP
Deep Breathing
or somewhere around that number
For 5 mp.
Take THAT white mages!
You guys should see how effecient it is for your linkshell to have a pimped thf or nin decked out in Eva gear and a DRG/WHM in full mp and wyvern HP gear hold the 3 Ru'Phuabos at JoL for the entire fight without needing to rest. And Healing breath is hateless. Just need a few stacks of echo drops and you're good to go!
496/497 with Wyrm Armet and Drachen Brais+1, that's 50% of my HP ^-^
k, then you main heal, we'll DD with NIN sub and dual clubs. Gotta go with what each is best at, right?Originally Posted by SeraphusRagnarok

Well the reason why 6 DRG parties work s because we hack. A party can only consist of 6 members yet 6 DRGs in 1 party subbiing mage= 6 full DDs 6 full healers 6 tanks and 6 semi DDs.
Brings up an important point, do 3 typical DDs with a BRD do more damage over time than 6 DDs with 6 pets? I have been in drg parties where we all had excellent gear and merits(including w.armet and ethereal earring) and we were killing faster than the WAR burn with their 2 brds. Whereas a brd would pull a mob and sleep it then go and get another, when a colibri goes under 50% we all branch out and get like 2 or 3 colibri and because 2 drgs can make short work of a colibri in a few seconds, we can kill multiple simultaneously. Technically since each of us can solo one, we can each solo one but remain in a party and kill roughly around the same time but still get the ebenfit of the chains.
I'm afraid that 3 DD, 2 BRDs, and 1 mage will do better than 6 Dragoons with pets. Reason? Gimping your overall damage potential by removing very large enhancing buffs as well as changing your sub job from a melee helpful sub job (whether it's SAM or WAR) to a mage job.
The pulling is the key point of these parties. The first couple pulls can be slow, depending on spot. But Bards can pull faster than DDs can kill, so they will always have one lined up (again depending on camp and competition). When you have to split up the DD to pull, then you are again reducing your damage potential (as well as healing). It's very easy to lose chain this way, as well. Running to a mob instead of having it standing next to you is a big difference in XP/time.
I could easily say my Dragoon Party out-DD'd a War-burn etc party, but that's not saying much. Warrior parties aren't automatically pimp and create max XP/time. I've seen quite a few Ohat/Lorica/Barone Pant wars out there in merits...it's very disheartening to see.
Any noticable change in breath resist rates? Wyvern getting resisted most of the time was the biggest problem with its attack breath damage, not so much the actual damage amount..
The pulling is the key point of these parties.
I didn't mention pulling, i meant damage over time, or kill speed of individual mobs i meant.
Cuz even as a DRG/RDM, with a meat kabob and Dia II I can still rip 1700 Penta Thrusts every fight on G.Colibri and still hit for 230-255 a swing. You'd be surprised how fast 1-2 DRGs can kill a G.Colibri since the 2h update, 1 penta with dia2 and angon can take 60%+ of its HP. Even when we split up we never lose the chain. We each spend 5 mp when someone goes in the red, and bam! 380x6 healing breaths. Skewer>Penta rapes colibri now with that SC buff, 1200 skewer>1700 penta>850 compression yo.Brings up an important point, do 3 typical DDs with a BRD do more damage over time than 6 DDs with 6 pets?
Hell not even counting weapon skills, but 6 DRGs using jumps alone can nearly kill a colibri. 12 Jumps each doing 200-500.
That is hands down -the- most fucking stupid .gif I have ever seen.
You must be new here.
oh god, it's frank's butt buddy....
I'm curious to try a 3 DD 2 brd 1 drg/mage set up. Although DD wont get the haste spell from a rdm or whm in the mage spot of these pts, you add dmg from the drg and then a drg can easily heal 500hp for 5 mp, and with refresh sanction and/or a ballad every now and then it would work out.
As long as DD wont get 1 shotted from 50% hp by a ws or something, I don't see how this could not work.
