I'm assuming this saves macro info as well.

    Re: Saving Macros

The following data can now be backed up on PlayOnline's servers.
-"Config" settings inside the main menu (excluding platform-specific settings such as "key assign", and language-specific items).
-[Current tell target] history for "chat" inside the active command window.
    -Macro and book data.
    -Map marker data.
-Item display sorting data for the "bid" option in the auction menu.

    [Storage Location]
It is now possible to store configuration data on PlayOnline's servers, in addition to your game machine's own hard disk drive. Up to four slots are available on your hard disk for this purpose, while one slot is available on the server. One slot stores one character's worth of configuration data. Selecting a used slot will overwrite existing data.

    [Saving Configuration]
Bring up the configuration file save screen by pressing the following buttons/keys at the character selection screen, and choose the slot in which you wish to save.

    "PlayStation 2": L1 button + L3 button
Xbox 360: LB + left stick button
    Keyboard: [Shift] + [Alt] + [Ctrl] + [B]

    [Loading Configuration]

    "PlayStation 2": R1 button + R3 button
Xbox 360: RB + right stick button
    Keyboard: [Shift] + [Alt] + [Ctrl] + [R]

    [Deleting Configuration]
Bring up the configuration file deletion screen by pressing the following buttons/keys at the character selection screen. Confirm deletion to restore default settings for the currently selected character.

    "PlayStation 2": R1 button + L2 button + R3 button + L3 button
    Xbox 360: R2 + L2 + right stick button + left stick button
    Keyboard: [Shift] + [Alt] + [Ctrl] + [D]

    Worked for me last night.

    SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+B on PC to backup
RB+[click right analog stick] on X360 to restore

The wording is really confusing, though. When you are saving the info to the server, it says "Save to..." but when you are restoring, it says "Save from...".

I'm missing something. I hit CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+B on the keybaord and a window pops up with "No abilities available." which is the BP window... I can't get the saving option to show up.

I can still swear I did this months ago and got a pop up saying everything was saved, yet nothing actually happened.

You could do it months ago, but it never saved it to the server, only locally to your Playonline folder on your PC.

There was a huuuuge misleading from a lot of people that it saved it to your server, but this was never the case ever ever.

    Re: Saving Macros

On a random note, the data saved to the POL server will display as a bunch of dashes until you scroll down to a local savable slot, then back up.

Unsure why they didn't just add buttons for saving/loading/deleting these on the same window you hit the Ok for selecting a character. But then again, that would make sense.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

    Re: Saving Macros

random thought can this be done from one playing system to another? i.e. could I save my ps2 macros to the server and load up ff on the pc and copy them onto that?

Would be awesome as my macros on pc are always severly outdated since I don't use it often.

    Re: Saving Macros

Yeah, I would assume that works. Assuming because SE is "awesome" at betatesting.

    Re: Saving Macros

Out of curiosity, how many people are doing this even w/windower macros?

    Re: Saving Macros

Honestly is just easier (for me) to take the user folder into a USB stick and copy it over to my other PC (or use the network, but lolvista) along with the windower folder.

Since most of my macros have "bad" things in them is pointless to port them over to console.

Once again, SE barely does beta testing (meaning they do not check stuff, much less a lot of macros.), if they wanted to screw over people using windower there are faster methods.

Uhh, that's the entire point. It's always been trivial to copy from PC to PC.

I copied my (windower'ed) macros from PC to X360 and the "legitimate" macros work flawlessly. (I have yet to be struck down by a lightning bolt from Squenix.) While it's true that I'll have to go through and fix a lot of them to remove /console calls, that's, at most, 30% of my macros. That leaves a hell of a lot of macros that will work just fine as is.

Furthermore, this also copies over map marker data and (I think) edited chat log colors, which would justify this entire exercise all by themselves.
