Perdu Voulge: Highest base dmg, other bonuses. <3
Byakko's: The voulge is better than it in every measurable way besides a rare enaero for about 5 extra dmg once in never.
Martial: Lower base dmg... TP bonus doesn't do much to raging rush.
Rampager: I don't like the thing. The lower base dmg, to me, is a bigger penalty than the +crits.
Fort axe: In testing, I found the voulge to be more effective on colibri. Depending on your gear and 2x support in a merit PT, could work out better than it did for me. Also, it's the most needy in terms of having your GAX meritted out so you can try to get as much beef behind the weaker hits as possible. I don't like it, but some people consider this a personal preference issue.
Anything else: Not even remotely worth considering since it's outclassed by at least one (if not all) of the above in all ways. Bravura excluded.

Perdu Voulge, and to me there's no debate.

    Better question--
Gorget, or fort torque? ...Well, or pcc, but meh.

Pretty much summed up where I've been headed in my personal debate over this. I have fort and have used it but I'm Taru and have capped INT merits so I think I could use the extra damage where I can get it, and thats where the perdu comes in. Also just about done with sam sub and have max gear haste minus 2 (velocious </3) so i think that I'll lean more in the perdu direction with all that TP.

    More opinions too plz!

What grip would be best? Critical + or DA+?

    DA I'd say.
Also Perdu Voulge probably your best for RR.
    Martial Bhuj for Steel Cyclone.

    Re: Raging Rush

I use Perdu + Crit Strap for RR and Martial + DA Strap for SC. Not sure of any hard numbers for the straps in their respective uses; just going with gut. Perdu also replaces Byakko's at 300% SC, and I use a Mithril Grip +1 for those situations.

    Re: Raging Rush

O lol, I thought he was just asking for TPing in, since you can't change straps on WS.
I'd still say DA strap is probably the better choice overall.

interesting, ill have to pay better attention to get a feel for whether id want a higher chance for another hit in my RR or more chance to crit. I like the crit strap alot - it puts out some gaudy RR numbers at times.

When straps came out I thought I'd DA full time, but then I leveled SAM + Soboro and the Crit one kinda won my heart. Shit, situational, etc., but you know that.

I like Rampager + Crits Strap idea more, although I'm using Perdu + DA Strap. But I'm too lazy too remove gimpness from my Rampager so... wait a sec... I have no Rampager oO

    Re: Raging Rush

Rampager > Byakko's from what I've seen, no luck on Assault statics, everyone just wants to spam the same two or three so it's taken FOREVER to just get to SP in pickups.

Rampager+Pole has been the nicest balance that I've found lately, I was using Ramp/Clay, but after seeing the math done more (and with the toning down of 2hers after 0.8 change) I have gone with the Pole to get the extra doubles, since the Ramp+Dex has the crits down.

I know the idea of wearing anything that doesn't directly increase your e-peen (or meaty e-clit, as it were) gets shot down by endgame melee, I kind of like using the stun grip with soboro, especially solo. I mean... it swings so much, you really see it start to proc enough to be worthwhile.

Crit + Soboro was fantastic for exp, especially since I was the main tank in the static. My SAM-main friend loves taking Soboro and Stun grip to campaign, and I've seen him bust it out for small-group sky farming as well. It does proc nicely, and now that you've reminded me I think I'd like to try it out.

    Also e-clit made me :3

    Re: Raging Rush

For hitting the high-end of Raging Rush with the most consistency, I would think Rampager + dbl. attack grip has to win. My preferred setup is Rune Chopper with Ares's Cuirass and Sanction Refresh whenever possible, as I cannot see anything other than Bravura and an HQ'd Haste setup matching its total damage. Using RC, though, my Raging Rushes are generally right on par with Byakko's/Martial/Perdu, with all the variation in damage coming from missed hits, crits or double attacks. So, I think there's really something to that Rampager - unfortunately I tossed mine long ago, but I'd love to see some parses or tests.

    Re: Raging Rush

It isn't merit mobs, but I was fucking around in Lufaise beating up the Leshy's up there.

Byakko's is kind of all over the place, it produced my best WSes of the time I spent up there (one full doubles+crits hit 2060 something, not using zerk/2hr) but it also produced my worst full Tp returns (go go 700 something damage, no crit for the loss) and was just really random.

Which is what I noticed meriting with it too.

Rampager never jumped as high, but it kind of settles in around the 1000-1300 average dmg range and just sticks there, didn't see a no critter, but saw multiple 4 hit/3 crit, 3 hit/3 crit, and the 5 hits, while not as common, had 3 or more crits from the damage shown.

Which pretty much fits my experience with it in merits, it's nice steady consistent damage, which seems to spike up more than down.
