I miss the 80's and early 90's wrestling, with Mr. Perfect and Million Dollar Man as my favorite bad guys, and Bret Hart as my favorite good guy. At least the WWE does a good job with the DVD's, especially when they focus on one guy or one stable like the horsemen, Bret, Flair, etc..

I recall a few months ago on RAW there was one of those endless segments of McMahon on the mic where he takes twenty or so minutes to remind you that he's a heel and that yes, you're supposed to dislike him. The crowd started chanting "We want wrestling" and I felt kinda proud.

Haven't watched SD in probably a year. Batista, while he looks nice in a suit, is too formulaic, and I think they've pretty much exhausted every conceivable way to get someone on the second rope for the 619. I never liked Mysterio (CAN THE LITTLE GUY WIN OH WELL YES IT TURNS OUT HE CAN!), and then the BF told me to look up his old stuff before he juiced. Its really a shame that he had to inflate 150 lbs and lose everything that made him an awesome wrestler in order to get the push.

RAW made me a sad panda with all the hype of Jericho coming back -- Oh shit! Rivalry with Orton for the belt! I mean.. with.. JBL..? What the fuck! And evidently on Monday he was wrestling for the Intercontinental. Bah.

TNA has been so impressive to me because the wrestling is good. After two months of being forcibly indoctrinated into watching WWE with the BF I was no longer engaged, because the movesets were so repetitive and frankly, boring. WWE made Jeff Hardy boring for christs' sake.

TNA manages to take standard storylines and spice them up, and there's only a few people with mic skills that make me cringe (Kaz, their new set of monsters, Rhino). I had never been a fan of Booker T or Kurt Angle until they switched over to TNA.. it just seems as if the wrestlers are given far more creative control over what they do, what they say, and how they perform. TNA takes the perma-B listers of WWE and proves that these guys are A-list material. Christian Cage is my hero.

What sucks and really bothers me is that wrestling can never be the same as it was about 10 years ago. Too many of the good wrestlers are either unable to wrestle because of injuries, or just don't like Vince because of his huge ego. (Bret Hart for instance.)

Yeah that does suck, I really hate to see my favorites age and it sucks to know they won't be able to do this anymore very soon. Particularly right now HBK, he's still my favorite of all time and still damn good but everyone says he was in his prime before he injured his back in 1998.

Though his return match in 2002 against Triple H blew most of that shit talk away.

The match was pretty funny particularly because the fans really didn't know who HBK was, since he left in 1998. That was a really huge year for WWF seeing as it was the Stone Cold era and had gained a shit ton of more fans week after week of Monday Night Raw and Pay-Per-Views.

Every big wrestlers match you can pretty much predict what comes next and it's really really bad lol. TNA onry for me but I only watch that every once in a while.

Tag team matches are just as predictable.
Good guy gets beat up and cornered. Good guy makes magical last minute desperate move. Both are desperate to tag in their parter.

It's all filler until the last 30 seconds.

Oh god yes man, that match was beyond epic. It was totally being fucked with by that referee that was on nWo's side. Bret Hart stepped in and regulated. Sucks the belt went vacant shortly because of that though.

I remember Sting joining the Wolf Pac was one of the most epic moments of all time.

Oh man, back when Rey Mysterio was actually tolerable....I totally recall when he was demasked, and how much it meant to him, his family, and the whole style of luchadore.



I miss watching this stuff....and seeing Nash looking like he used to, lol... I remember on TNA a few months back when Hall showed up and he saw Kev, and he's like "I didn't know we stopped dying our hair big man" I was rolling. He looked terrible himself, but anytime I see Hall, I get giddy. Outsiders were pro....

This thread made me go watch some old ECW matches. Specifically Tazz, man that guy was amazing. It really sucks he broke his neck back in old ECW, he was in WWE for a very short time and couldn't really wrestle as good as he use to at all so they put him in commentating.. what a waste of amazing talent. He would have been kicking so much ass. They did the same thing with RVD, why did he never become champion? He was the best damn champ in ECW, he was so cocky and kickass. Now he's just some underdog, they really need to give him bigger opportunities before he gets too old.

They never pushed RVD because a. the pot b. he would make their top guys look absolutely silly if he wasn't instructed to hold back. Watching his ECW matches and those of WWE, you can tell he clearly isn't wrestling with the same intensity and top level that drew fans to him in ECW. I guess a paycheck is a paycheck though so I can't blame him since at the time there wasn't much competition.

One guy I absolutely miss from ECW and he never once wrestled at all other than taking bumps from various people....was Joel "The Quintessential Studmuffin" Gertner. This guy ruled so much whenever he would get on the mic and do promos for Big Dick Dudley and Sign Guy.

That's the damn truth. I remember back when it wasn't really obvious who was gonna win. I mean, the bad guys hardly even win anymore. All the good guys win now pretty much. Now, before a match starts, I just watch Jeff Hardy, about 180 lbs. come out to the ring against fucking 300 lbs. Umaga and I can easily say, "Well duh, of course Jeff will win."

Chris Jericho's WWF debut back in '99 was one of the coolest things I ever saw on TV (if you watch the video, you can hear how loud the crowd went when his name went up, you rarely hear pops like anymore unless it's Jeff Hardy or Undertaker). The fact they let him debut and interrupt the Rock was great. WWE is unfortunately going to be spending the next 10 years trying to find someone to replace the Rock. They're trying with Cena, but god knows how annoying he is. There are still a few people who are entertaining (MVP, Jericho, the Hardys, Edge, Undertaker/Kane), but on the whole, I mostly just use prowrestling these days as background noise while playing something on my computer or PSP
