Top 5
------
Charzard
Pit
Sonic
Pikachu
Falcon
Bottom 5
---------
Pikmin & Olimar
Ice Climbers
Yoshi
Peach
Jigglypuff
WTF
Squirtle - Its hard to control this fucker mannnnnnn. If only it would stop doing rapid spin off the ledge. Q_Q
Top 5:
-Meta Knight (fun 1v1)
-Captain Falcon (Also great)
-Pikachu (only other character I know how to play rather well)
-Toon Link (He's pretty nice to play now)
-Yoshi (SSE/1P ONLY. Lack of good third jump makes PvP harder, but it hardly matters in SSE. Either I have little/no problem recovering or I go flying off the screen. That, and his aerial-down and neutral special move do some serious damage to bosses/mobs.)![]()
Characters I hate because I can't play them well...
-Olimar
-R.O.B.
-Wario (If he was based on the pre-Wario Ware, he'd be much more fun to play, but he's not.)
-Sonic
-Ice Climbers (just because I hate them)
Top 5:
Toon Link
Lucas
Zero suit Samus
Dedede
Shiek/Zelda
Bottom 5:
Sonic
Regular Samus
Wario
Ice Climbers
Ness
Ok these aren't my worst/best but I feel it's relevant to put here.
Gonna stake my claim now after playing for a long long time that Top Tier for this game is most definitely the following
Top Tier
Snake
Metaknight
High tier is probably debatable but those two guys are the only people I can clearly and easily see as shoe ins for top tier.
Reading (daily) the brawl boards tier discussion. Its nice to see people argue for a character (intelligently) but sad to see your character lower than you thought![]()
I think tiers probably won't come down to "how good your character is", but rather "how little does Snake or Metaknight or King Dedede's chainthrow rape him".
I'm gonna just throw this out there in terms of what I'm guessing the tier list will look like. Think there's room for a shit ton of high tiers in this game. You may agree to disagree.
Top Tier:
Snake
Metaknight
High Tier:
Toon Link
Marth
Lucas
Falco
King Dedede
Wolf
Olimar
Pit
Pikachu
Mr. Game and Watch
Diddy Kong
Middle Tier:
Lucario
Ice Climbers
Luigi
Zelda
Ike
Donkey Kong
Pokemon Trainer
Bowser
Fox
R.O.B.
Wario
Peach
Low Tier:
Ness
Captain Falcon
Zero Suit Samus
Ganondorf
Sheik
Kirby
Mario
Link
Jigglypuff
Bottom Tier:
Samus
Sonic
Yoshi
Pretty damn accurate. I'd put Wario in middle though, and Kirby near the top of middle. Zelda needs to go WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY up there though. She's definitely high tier.Originally Posted by Zetah
Lucas needs to go down. Definitely not top. Marth can raep him all day long.
I use Zelda a lot and she has a couple of key problems. Her air priority is weak and recovery can be very weak, and she has a generally useless d-air with very low priority in comparison to other character's u-airs. Also, her f-smash can still be DI'd out of and sometimes her U-smash, although that is much harder.
I think Lucas deserves to be really high. Lots of reasons. Zap jump and magnet pull makes for incredible wtf recoveries, SH PK fire is amazingly useful especially with wavebouncing, all of Lucas' smashes are strong, especially his f-smash that is stupidly fast, nair can be ground canceled into an up-tilt for easy comboing, d-air has high priority and multiple hits so he can approach safely from up-above in many circumstances, PK thunder has a lot of uses from edgeguarding to recovery to using it as an offensive tool, b-air spike is very strong, etc.
no way zss is low tier!
Woman jumps too high and therefore can't really use any of her aerials as an approach method, and her kill methods are very limited (strictly b-air, over-B, f-air, and u-air, three of which won't really land unless the opponent doesn't air dodge or is already stunned from d-smash). She's also for some reason more lightweight than Pikachu, and recovery can get gimped easily if down-B doesn't get her close enough to go onto the stage, but in many circumstances there's no chance for her to recover because she gets outright killed.
I'd say Wario, Mario, and Kirby all scream mid-tier, at the very least. Also, I think Lucas can't be put on the same level as Metaknight and Snake. And Lucas and Ness probably shouldn't be THAT far apart.
I moved some things around, but I'm not budging on Mario and Kirby. Especially Kirby, because he still doesn't have that many perks. His b-air is good, but so is almost everybody else's b-air really, and he just doesn't have a lot of priority or range on his attacks. Down-B and being cute/fun doesn't necessarily mean he's like really awesome. It's great that his f-smash and side-B are now reliable for kill moves, but it doesn't make Kirby incredible.
Eh, I'd say Ganondorf should be switched with Samus and I am not sure about Meta Knight being up there with Snake... isn't he the lightest character to counteract his priority ability (Snake's RPG smash one shotted him in battlefield at 0%)? Probably top tier...
I'd also say Wario midtier above Jigglypuff, similar aerial maneuverability (sp) but Wario seems to stand out with with more versatility.
Thats just me though, rest of it seems pretty good.
Edit: BRP, I'd have to disagree with the difference between Lucas and Ness. Lucas speed for the power he has is much greater than Ness's (sadly) especially that f-smash (Stick > Bat in power?? Speed ok but power...). <3 both nonetheless
Lucas is so much better than Ness, it's ridiculous. Don't know why people keep trying to compare the two.
Wouldn't a lack of perks only make them look more mid-tier? Neither have many terrible match-ups and actually do well against plenty of higher-tier characters. The reason I say Lucas and Ness are similar is because they have many of the same match-ups.
Ness definately has better aerial moves (especially down air) and a point blank PK Thunder launch can kill someone at like 30%. Also sometimes in a time match you can jack a kill from someone's final smash using a well-timed PK Flash (Kirby and Ike in particular).
Lack of perks would mean there's nothing amazing about them, and therefore don't have a lot that can give them an edge over a different character, who would in turn have those perks. I.E. Toon Link's combo ability and projectiles, Marth's range and aerial priority, King Dedede's chaingrab, Donkey Kong's wallbounce, etc. Those are things that can give them a distinct edge over a different character.Originally Posted by BRP
He would be mid-tier if he could short hop his f-air but now he jumps too damn high for shorter characters (which is a lot mind you) and his bat takes too damn long to come out, I mostly use it as a feint for them thinking I am doing a quick move and cause them to spot dodge only to get wailed by the bat (which doesn't do much but decent %).Originally Posted by BRP
PK Flash is difficult to pull off but great for laughs, I am still trying to get it to work on single directional triple jumpers like Ike/Kirby/Sheik (Zelda goes so far).
Outside of Ness's sparkle f-air and back throw, Lucas can do more in capable hands. I will always still use Ness more than Lucas but will still use both
