if you think game and watch is bad play me in 1v1 :D
if you think game and watch is bad play me in 1v1 :D
Rex asked me this as well back when I honestly was still kind of meh with him, back then it was because I generally didnt think to and I play against a lot of grab happy players but then when I started to do it a lot it became really predictable and/or my friends would arbitrarily miss when I had them spotted for a really good one. Now I use it maybe 4-5 times a match, usually to save my ass when it's really important and generally 4 of the 5 tend to kick in when it matters. I spot dodge/air dodge a lot more instead of countering since if theyre in my face it takes away the rush game of landing a grab, I'll let them do the spacing for me, if I can hit them with a front smash for it out of a grab then it's much better than a counter.Originally Posted by -Zer0-
That's true. I haven't faced grab-happy players yet, but it makes sense to evade it completely rather than risk being thrown. I love evading on the spot into his combo, but in the air, it almost comes as instinct to counter rather than dodge since I really can't pull off any attacks other than Aether after dodging, which comes off just as you're about to land.
i bet 60% of these forums play ike
Top 5 would be Pit, Link, Mario, Ness and Lucario.
Don't really have a bottom five other than Yoshi, Browser, Deedee, Ice Climbers... Close enough I guess
anyone who uses ike is most likely a huge faggot irl
that being said lucas' up smash sucks and anyone using lucas is probably a pimp irl
Top:
Marth
Pit
Lucario
Pokemon Trainer
Meta Knight
Bottom:
DK
Diddy
Jigglypuff
That's so far. I haven't had the chance to really play Diddy much, but he goes here for now.
As far as the tops go, Marth is my #1 anyway, but Pit/Lucario are pretty fucking awesome. I'm learning PKMN Trainer slowly, and Meta Knight is just hax at times.
My favorites so far are Toon Link, Zelda(not so much Sheik), and Pit.
Least favorites are Wario, Lucario, and Samus.
Playing public online also made me hate Ike and Marth. Gd every 4 man has at least one, sometimes two.
Top Picks
Wolf
Sonic
Ike
Toon Link
Worst Picks
Meta Knight
Bowser
Donkey Kong
So far for me:
Best:
Pikachu
Diddy
Link
Marth
Fox/Falco
Worst:
DK
Yoshi lol
My top right now are:
Toon Link - love his down sword. Ive hit people with it 4-5 times in a row before hitting the ground.
Wolf
R.O.B.
Sonic
Pit
Bottom 5:
DK
Samus - I just suck with her
Yoshi
Olimar
Bowser
I'm really mad they screwed with Falco. I loved him in Melee but don't like him in this one. I wouldn't say hes bottom 5 but hes just not the kind of character I like anymore. I'm glad they powered Kirby up a bit more, still not back to his 64 power though.
Yeah, Kirby's boost was definately needed. Melee he was garbage, the original he was broken, now hes in the middle somewhere.
And poor samus, IMO has one of if not the worst jumps in the game. No range. She floats nice but thats about it.
I mainly use ZSS; attempting to keep others from getting their Final Smash is annoying when you don't really want to use yours (since taunting back to ZSS is painful).
Other than that Fox/Marth.
Best:
ZSS
Wolf
Ness
Lucas
Lucario
Worst:
Falcon ;_;
I only say this because Falcon sucks the way I played him in Melee (probably not my worst). Perhaps there'll be a better way to play him but for now, he is not the man that he used to be! (P.S. scrap that scarf)
Don't really have a top 5 yet, but I plan on learning Snake and maybe Toon Link after I get good with Ike.
On the previous topic about countering, I really only use counter to protect myself when trying to recover, its otherwise pretty risky to use it on the ground imo. I usually get around by just dodging/QDing/short hop n-airs or if I have decent space reverse b-airs are really nice too.
after playing a bit with snake, he's definitely one of my top 5 :D
Need to play around with him more to get a hang of grenades and when/how to best use the land mines
Good trick with snake's grenades is to keep holding B and whenever you want to just drop it (not throw it), hit shield and it'll drop where you shield. Works well if someone is rushing you while you have a nade in hand, just shield up and when they try and hit you, they'll smack the nade and get hurt, while you're shielded.
Best: PT, my all around best character. I've got to work a little bit on Charizard still, but I'm comfortable with Squirtle and Ivysaur for the most part.
Olimar: He'd be my main if he had better recovery I think. I annoy the piss outta a 1v1 opponent with him, I love to toss my Pikmin barrage to bait them to come closer then pull out a Smash from 8 feet away, and he's got devestating ones at that. He's Brawl's version of the Ice Climbers for me.
Lucas: I love this guy in Free for All. His Upsmash and Meteor Smash are both beastly and he's got great projectiles. I love snitching the Smash Ball with his Thunder, I get it 75%-80% of the time I play with him. I didn't even want to use him at first but he surprised me.
Lucario: I haven't used him as much as I like but getting better, and he's a cool character.
Wolf: See Lucario.
Worst: None so far really, but I'm not very fond of Wario or Gannondorf/C. Falcon. I've never really like Fox or Falco either...I guess that's 5.
Only one person with Snake in their top tier?
Top 5 for me:
Snake
Link
Toon Link
Mario
Ike/Marth (count them as the same because, outside a few alterations, they have the same play mechanics EXCEPT for speed)
Bottom 5:
None. I don't believe you can be horrible with any character at this time. Maybe down the road, but I can kick ass and get my ass kicked with anyone. :v
Is it me, or is there alot of different choices in everyones top 5... I mean there are some obvious picks in everyones and some obvious worsts, but there is alot of different characters that everyone seems to favor.
