You know, in theory, if BST got a puk pet an alliance of beastmasters could "theoretically" destroy AV.

Puks, AV hint #2 coming to a cinema near you.
Spring 2010
I don't get why any of you would be excited about this ridiculous "update" to beast.
Let's see what you got:
1. New icons to jugs: No people, we aren't getting new jugs, the reason they placed them in there is because they all share the same icons and where in the database. The guy that wrote the notes probably just automated the process to show flaged items on their database with new icons without rechecking that they actualy exist. They have been there forever and this says nothing except that they have no idea what BST has or needs.
2. Erase food @ 99 stacks: So now we have a new food, -1 item space, to erase effects instead of needing to use AF2 body with reward. So basicly, AF2 body is now almost worthless since the prime point has be nuked from reward. We've been calling for real pet food for long and this is the most stupid answer we could've gotten. Oh, wait...
3. Regen food @ 99 stacks: They have to be kidding me. Another worthless food. The problem with beastmaster pets is not HP, it's the rest. Use a pet, any pet in a decent end game mob and you'll be seeing a 30% acc and pathetic performance.
4. Reward timer cut down to half: Cool, you can now keep your pet alive longer by spaming food that stacks at 12 items instead of 99 as it should. This is great, because now we can tank with our pets at least. Oh, wait, no we can't. First you'd be hard pressed to generate enough amounts of enmity as BST with the gear we have and the amazing hate gaining JAs we got which all come from... sub job. Second, 1:30 recast for a 500 HP healing isn't exactly what i'd call great HP recovery, considering your pet's defense blows anyway, which in turn makes it so that your pet loses more hate than it can generate from its own dmg.
5. A Pet Def+10 shield with reward effect: Not sure if it's been tested, but chances are the reward effect is akin to Zoral Ja's axe, which we could dual wield anyway if needed. Def+10 isn't exactly gonna make our pets tanks either >_>. So basicly we get one single pet enhancing item which enhances a pathetic aspect of them.
So to sum up what we get from this update:
- Can't still be a tank. Just situational at best, which we could already without this stupidity.
- Can't buff up our pets to be better damage soakers or better DDs. Basicly our pets will perform exactly the same as they did.
- Our pets can live longer. Sweet... if it was the actual problem with bst.
BST is fine when we can access natural pets and i actualy believe that if we could buff those pets we'd be talking about potential exploits, so it is no wonder to me that we don't have access to natural pets where it matters. But Jug Pets are sub par in so many ways and it's not exactly in the HP department...
In closing: BST end game status remains virtualy the same.
did they actually say this? i scanned thru the update details and didnt see it mention anything about them being in the game already or notOriginally Posted by Souj
edit: i just went to check back.. it seems they ninja edited them out
Old habits die hard... I forgot the exp penalty for charmed pets was removed... it was right?!Originally Posted by Skeetaru
Just to note: the new erase pet food is way better than AF/AF2 body, which were never as good as advertised. AF2 body doesn't add erase to pet food; it removes slow, gravity, and silence - that's it (likewise, AF body only removes poison, paralyze, and blind). First reports of roborant have it removing m.def down and bio which couldn't be removed before at all. That's not to say I wouldn't trade the new pet foods in any day for pet sushi or subs.Originally Posted by Shassira
Some people on alla are saying the Def+10 is actually Def+10% which would be very nice, though I'll believe it when there's real proof of it.Originally Posted by Shassira
The BST buffs aren't bad for what they are, but I agree that what they aren't is a boost to endgame performance.
Aye, this is true, i haven't tested the new food myself yet, but it will ofcourse come in handy. I wasn't trying to say that the items themselves and isolated from our real needs were bad. The items are good, they do stack decently (why not change pet food stacks too?) and as you said they are actualy better. The problem is that when placed into context the update is pointless.
I know some people like to think "better this than nothing", but in the case of this game i can't agree. Every time they waste their time "upgrading a job" and don't hit the nail, it's like a lost oportunity. What are the chances that BST will get more love in the future? They'll probably archive it and address other jobs (that also need attention) now, effectively wasting the short window of attention they gave BST. Go figure.
How can you get excited over nothing. ITs like way back in the day when it was noted there was new food for Bst in the dats. An since then none of them have ever been introduced. Its just a fix for something they may or may not ever introduce.
Besides they will most likely be piss poor weak with material thats a pain in the ass to acquire.
I am not excited anymore. I went back and read the update notes addendum here:
http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/polnew ... 2784.shtml
It seems like they are just saying: "Oops! We didn't mean to mention those items because they aren't even available to players".
Some Pet Roborant news. Found the guy who was making some on my server. He had a 75 BST and said he used one on his pet with low health. He claimed to get a "no effect" message on his pet with low health. Highly disappointing if this is just a status cure pet food. He confirmed that he fished Ca Cuong up in Grauberg, averaging 5 in 3 hours. I went 4 hours without one.
Just made some Pet Poultice and used it on a lesser colibri.
"The Lesser Colibri is regen". No immediate cure effect. Another colibri snatch morseling my colibri had no effect (just incase it was a food status). Regen'd 1% per tick. Not completely useless, but nothing too amazing.
I hope they make regular biscuits stack to 99 soon.
Bought some Roborants off the AH and got to do some actual testing.
Roborants: Does not restore HP. Seems to be some sort of -na and limited erase effect. I can confirm it cures paralysis. No effect when using on a pet without status effects. No message of the food wearing off. Alatariel (from alla) posted that it did not remove a pet's requiem effect.
Poultice: Seems to be purely a weak regen. No initial cure amount. Seems to last around 5 minutes.
I need to find out the following. Does wearing enhance reward gear increase the effect? The three types of enhance reward gear to test should be:
AF1 Body
AF2 Body
Increase Reward (ogre gloves, monster gaiters etc)
Aww, crap. In the "known issues" for the 14th:
"Dancer's job ability "Samba" is effective to the player's pet."
FFS, leave it alone!
Did you really think that was intentional or they'd leave it there? ha!Originally Posted by Kyreth
