Does it matter what difficulty i beat it on to unlock all the characters?
You can continue as many times as needed, i hope, right?
ill add more when i think of them. trying to use olimar and falcon right now and failing miserably.

Ok, so i just beat SSE the first run through, but it only showed 76% complete. Do i need to go through and make sure there are green flags on all the levels? Is that how you get 100% and then subsequently all the characters? I got up to Sonic at the end but no Jiggs, toon link, or wolf. Whats the deal.
Opening doors and getting trophies/stickers raises your percent I think
Yes, going through every door and collecting everything increases %.
I had 91% upon beating final boss, 94% on getting Wolf/Jigglypuff/Toon Link.
As for how to get them, after you beat SSE each is through a door on a different stage. I don't know their stage names but all 3 are on the ground part of the map, Toon Link's is in the lower left, Jigglypuff and Wolf are in the upper right part of the ground.

Are there any "secret paths" or "sidequests," in SSE when it comes to unlocking the characters? Or is it all storyline progression and if you beat it, you're guaranteed to have everybody unlocked?
You'll have everyone but Wolf/Toon Link/Jiggly, who are 'side quests' after beating SSE.
..on another note, does anyone know how to use ZSS in SSE after beating it..? edit: actually I havent tried taunt switching, I'll do that when I get home <_<
To use Zero Suit Samus at the start of a match, select Samus on the character screen and hold the following button before the match starts with the corresponding controller that is being used:
Gamecube/Classic controller: Hold the R button
Wii Remote with Nunchuk: Hold the Z button
Wii Remote: Hold the Minus (-) button
(taken from gamefaqs)
Duh, I know that. Doesn't work in SSE. The taunt thing probably will though.
Oh, sorry >.> Thought you mean how to use ZSS in general, not just in SSE.
so I basically just started SSE out of frustration with not being able to find any online matches. when I've cleared some zones, in its place appears a glowing colored dot, and sometimes its a solid dot with a white flag on it. whats the difference? and whats the significance of either one?
Glowing dot is 100% completion, flag means you missed something.
Other way around I thought?Originally Posted by Thulius
Nah, I've got 4-5 flags left with 95% completion.
ahh sweet, guess I'll go back later and kill more stuff?
Hahaha oh wow. I feel stupid for redoing the first level 5 times now.Originally Posted by Thulius
Just look for unopened yellow boxes and doors you haven't been through, doesn't matter how many enemies you kill.Originally Posted by Oxyminus
Keep in mind there's some boxes off-screen that you cant see unless you destroy them
Yeah... I was wondering wtf I could be missing.Originally Posted by BRP
