So Basically, help out the noob!

for the most part, I'm learning Brawl as I go. had the original smash bros for n64, never had a game cube so i'm a generation of catching up to do. on the first game I mained mario and kirby. right now I'm maining pikachu because I tend to like faster chars and he seems to fit that mold for me. I've been holding my own in online matches, mainly off good countering but I'm never setting the tone in my matches (or so it feels). so experts and crazy game gurus, I wanna learn. any tips, beyond the obvious of just playing and getting schooled?

Sadly you learn more by losing, it's just a plain fact. Also, if you watch vids, do your best to not copy them exactly but to take the basics of what theyre showing and add them to your play style. Aside from what, get good with the game mechanics, defensive maneuvers will give you the openings you need to get the right moves in. Work on dodging, rolling, air dodging. Once you have that find the move that fits with the spacing/time you have when theyre still recovering.

I honestly learned a lot by losing to ryko lol. I knew I was in for it playing against him, but I lasted forever with a character I thought I was pretty bad with... I think 3 of our 5 matches extended 4:30 and one even hit 5:16. If I could learn to do that with someone else I think I can be pretty good.

Re: So Basically, help out the noob!

I watched some videos of my boy pikachu lastnight before going to sleep, and brought to light some ideas I had about how to play him that I hadn't tested as much as I would have liked (yet). Basically just going to try out some new strategies next time I manage to get some online matches going.
