Recurring FFXI 3001 Post Update?

This is what is happening to me as far as I can tell. It has to do with certain servers being accessable and certain servers not being accessable.

An example that just happened: I was in Whitegate (I managed to log in fine for once), and I took the runic portal to Caedarva Mire. As soon as I hit the "Downloading Data" screen I get the POL-3001 error. (well, after it times out)

Apparently, for Diabolos, the POL server for Caedarva Mire is 219.117.114.155 (using the vista Resource Monitor application). It tries to connect but can't.

And it's independant of any windower meddling. I can't ping that IP address, however many other people can (the zone isn't down, just unreachable for me at my current ISP). Traceroute to 219.117.114.155 gets as far as 220.148.131.120, and every step after that point is dead. (that's not my ISP's router, it's some t-com.ne.jp router). This is the important fact here; It's not your ISP that is to blame - it's some place further down the line as far as I can tell. (EDIT: I'm stupid, traceroute won't work with a UDP connection, ignore this paragraph. Still, there's some weird mojo in the internets tonight).

I talked to a GM yesterday night about this and apparently many people are getting this error. They said for us to contact our ISP; And that if contacting your ISP fails, to contact SE during their normal business hours Mon-Fri.


In the meantime, however, I can't log on with any regularity. Sometimes, the internet routers work, and other times they don't. Depends which zone server you need to talk to. For instance, I have 1 mule in each of the starter cities, and my main character was in Windurst Woods. I could log on just fine to my other mules, but both my mule in Windy Woods and my main character in Windy Woods would trigger the POL-3001 error.

This has been happening to me as well, I can't zone into South Sandoria (S) at all. Had to have a friend log me on twice now just to get me out of that zone. GM's will say that they cannot help you unless you can maintain a connection on that character and they will tell you to go to the live chat on POL.com.

I'm gonna take a guess and say that no one works at SE on the weekend. I'm hoping later tyda they finally fix it...

This happened to me about a month ago quite often. I would DC then be unable to get back onto my main, only mules.

I tried everything but no matter what i would always DC at roughly the same time. Now my bfs internet is poodle so i figured it'd be that, but after it happenin like at least once a day i decided to do some tweaking.

I managed to open all the ports FFXI needs on his Belkin router and since then i've had no problems *touch wood* If its like the GM's are saying and could be isp/router based, mebs google portforwarding and see what the ports for FFXI are. Iono if cause i'm in England and most of you guys are elsewhere that you'll get different results or not but the portforwarding webby had all the ports for ffxi on there and as i say, that seemed to work.

I was able to log in this morning on main and mules without issue. Whatever was wrong seems to be fixed at the moment.

It's not port forwarding that was the issue for me - I have forwarded all of the FFXI ports to my internal machine, and it still wasn't working - It couldn't find the correct route to the zone server is all.

However, like the previous poster, it did clear up last night. Must have been Monday morning in Japan and the tech came in and noticed das blinkenlights or something.

sorry to pull up an oldish thread but I have a similar issue after today's (wednesday) patch.

Getting a 3113 error every time I try to log in, after selecting the character. happening on both accounts that I use, whether on PC or Xbox. Reset modem/router but that didn't fix the issue. Is it maybe comcast going fubar again?

Yeah, mine just fixed itself after an hour of getting the 3113s

I was wondering if the Comcast thing had come back, too. Looooong time spent on the first screens (friends list and whatever other junk it does when you first long on), then errors randomly along the way before you get that shortcut crystal thing to load.
