Maybe wooshing myself but maple-bacon refers to the wood used to smoke it, not dipping cooked bacon in Mrs. Butterworth's

And expectation of flavor is important. Nobody really wants to suck on a hard piece of candy that tastes like bacon when it's much more pleasurable to either eat one that's sweet (what you're used to) or scarf down proper crispy-fried bacon strips (what you're used to). It's the same shock to the system as when you pick up what a glass full of what you're sure is apple juice only to discover it's iced tea that's stood out long enough to have its ice melt all the way away. Candy that takes like bacon may not be horrible but there's that hurdle to clear first and I'm not paying those prices to carry myself through that exercise. Novelty candies are cute and all but those prices put them outside my Novelties budget.

It's maple candy flavored if anything. It isn't bacon flavored lol. You should read the description on the site. This isn't that odd, in fact mixing sweet with salty is very common. See: Chocolate-covered Pretzels for a great example. I'm sure there's alot of be said for eating a nice maple flavored lollipop and then hitting that little salty nugget of bacon. :D

I was envisioning (engustationing?) a homogenously flavored candy that tastes like crispy bacon smothered in maple icing, like the kind you see on maple bar donuts. Like, if you put the bacon and maple icing in a blender and puree'd it, then solidified it into candy form, that'd be what this lollipop tastes like.
