The most fail update to date, if you're not a SCH, which I assume many of us are busy XPing. Some small city quests, no missions, the jobs that still need work/adjusting/whatever you want to call it still need it. I'm floored at the amount of work they put into Campaign that would be better used ANYWHERE else. Campaign gets new NPCs, with new gear, brand new WS, why couldn't they have put even 10% of the work they put into Campaign into actually updating the game? And where are some new HNM? Things like Retrace/Recall spells/NIN Sneak should not be touted as special, amazing updates that we should need 4 months of looking forward to, basic stuff like this should be expected with the sheer amount of areas/traveling around being done, and in the case of Monomi, something insanely long overdue.
I've long given up on SE doing anything with kings. It would however be nice to see some nice new major kick ass HNM, or a new endgame area, or a new event, or some actual storyline progression (seriously, the progression we got with this update was probably even quicker to go through than ToAU mission updates...) The heavy focus on Campaign, which, yeah, it's nice to screw around in, but that's it. I think SE thought "Wow people like Besieged. Let's make our next expansion be non stop Besieged, everyone will love that!"
I really hope someone eventually hammers home the idea into SE that they should have their own forums of some kind, or direct contact with the player base, some kind of interaction beyond "We have someone who's job it is to read the forums part of each day".
Things that I am personally interested in seeing would be:
- AF1+1 / AF2 for ToAU jobs.
- SE actually finding a way to communicate with it's player base on a regular basis, both NA and JP alike.
- New event/endgame area, along the lines of Salvage/Limbus/Dynamis/Assault/Sky/Sea.
- Story progression, involving at least some semi-challenging/difficult BCs.
- Fixes to jobs that still need things. Could go into a lot here, but it'd just derail.
- New HNM / Schedule-able fights like Ouryu/Bahamut v2.
- New gear that isn't situational, a sidegrade, or a cheese sandwich. JSEs for MNK, RNG, BLU, COR, PUP, etc.
- Assigning Scholar to Nashira and DNC to Homam, at least, and hopefully a Salvage set.
- A good solution to merit camp overcrowding issues.
- Einherjar changes: At least changing it from the key item system it has now, to maybe a Limbus style chip system.
- Fixing major faults with out of date systems: Dynamis/Limbus being one group at a time, 15 minute repops on ??? for Pop-NMs, etc.
- And because i'm a lolSMN, more avatars before 2010.
Covering any 3-4 of those things in an update would make it worth the long waits. Seeing updates to Pankration, the Chocobo Circuit, Fish Ranking, new types of Sushi that no one use because it's inferior to Sole Sushi, more major Campaign overhauls, just makes it seem like SE is more and more out of touch with what it's players actually care about.
