    Re: Paypal question

when I sell stuff, I have the buyers send money orders and I let them know they wont get whatever it was they bought until my bank makes sure their payment isnt counterfeit and clears (which only takes a day). just do that and dont use paypal.

    Re: Paypal question

any of you guys use ebay? if so what method of payment do you use instead of paypal?
i pretty much only use paypal, because i'm more comfortable with it, and find it easier to use. never had any problems... yet.

I have read many chargeback horror stories at http://www.aboutpaypal.org/forums/ Chargebacks are one way that paypal "justifies" keeping your money.

    Re: Paypal question

I'm just curious. Both http://www.aboutpaypal.org/forums/ and http://www.paypalsucks.com have links all over their sites to free-merchant.com

Are these sites and stories actually real? Or is this just one giant operation to get people to use free-merchant? Some of these stories sound like the ones I've been through, so I can see them being true, it's just that the coincidences are too much and it makes my spider senses tingle a bit.

Not that I'd ever use paypal after the shit I've been though, I just want to know if these sites are bogus or not.

Whether the sites are real or not, I was personally stiffed out of $100+ thanks to a chargeback and paypal's policies.

    Re: Paypal question

Too bad there's no paypal-like service that will personally verify transactions, e.g. the seller ships the item to the company, the buyer pays the company, the company verifies they got the item and the payment, then ships the item to the buyer and gives the money to the seller.

Of course, that only works for tangible items and would probably cost an additional fee.

The post office will do that. I forget what that method is called, but it's fairly popular and there are a number of companies that do it.

USPS calls it "Collect on Delivery"

COD allows mailers to collect the postage and the price of an item from the recipient when a carrier delivers it. The goods must be ordered by the addressee. COD service can be used for merchandise sent by First-Class Mail, Express Mail, Priority Mail, Parcel Post, and Media Mail. The amount to be collected from the recipient may not exceed $1,000. A delivery record is maintained by the USPS.
