My experience with the event:

I didn't have anything from the previous egg hunts so I had to get everything anyways.

For the new eggs, trade in the 5 first letters of a nation controlled region such as Derfland ([D][E][R][F][L]) because say it's controlled by Sandoria.

If you didn't have the Wing Egg from previous events, you'll get that. If you do have it you'll get the new Melodius Egg instead.

San d'Oria: Melodius Egg
Bastok: Clockwork Egg
Windurst: Hatchling Egg

Found this out cause I was trying to get the Jeweled Egg instead.

This procedure confirmed for Jeweled egg from last year, i just got it by innitial 5 instead of the last egg , i got jeweled egg.

Totally messed it up , its different.

You have to posess all eggs from last year and then trade in your own nations controlled area 5 letters.
Then you will obtain jeweled egg!

To get the new Sandy and Windy furnishings, do I need to travel to those nations to trade their regions in, or can I obtain them all from the Bastok moogles with the appropriate combinations?

Edit: You can trade them all to the same moogle.

I just got the 3 new eggs YAY!
I had my old 3 in storage, and when i did the 5 letter region i got Flower Lamp again
SO ya i got them all 3 out, and put them in my mog house
I redid 5 letter region for each nation and got the new ones

^You need to have the nation egg furnishings from last year and not on the special item storage npc. To get those, you need to give the first 5 letters of a Conquest area under control of the nation who's decoration you're aiming for. After you get the old one, you can do another zone under that nation's control, or the same and get the new egg. For example on Bahamut, Vollbow is under Windurstian control. I traded in the letters V-O-L-L-B and recieved the flower egg which was last years item. Then I traded V-O-L-L-B again and I recieved the Hatchling egg which is the new item for windurst. And you can do this all from one nation, don't need to move, for Bastok eggs do Bastok controlled area names, and Sandy is the same thing.

Hatchling egg is surprisingly boring... just occasionally blinks.

Clockwork egg's time matches in-game time... weee~

Melodious egg didn't do anything on the hour... perhaps music at 0:00 :/

Hatchling also makes Wyvern/Dragon noises, scared the absolute bejesus out of me when I first heard it.

Alright, so, I have all the "old" eggs (ie, lamp, winged and flower eggs) as well as a clock egg. I wanted to get the jeweled one so I traded a windurstian owned region to the moogle and got a hatchling egg. If I do the same thing again, will I get the jeweled? (I'm a windurstian if that matters).

You can almost never store new event items until the next maintenance after the event. (Like the Dream Boots and the +1, you couldn't store until after this maintenance.) So it would be my guess that you cannot.

I love this event, I make a killing off of lazy people every year.
